In 2014, Nora McInerny Purmort lost both her father and her husband to cancer after she miscarried her second baby. This book, more a series of essays than a memoir, is the first thing I read after Nate died that made profound grief make any sense to me. She shows grief can be darkly funny, that you need to find people who can see both the laughter and the loss, and who can be there as you try to put back together your wild and precious life.

BethFishReads Whoa -- sounds like something I should read 7y

Weekend reading, a few that I've been working on for awhile and few I'd love to start.

Brona Is that an arc of Victoria? Lucky you! 7y

I liked this audio book quite a bit, but the ending fizzled for me... three codas for otherwise minor characters was just too much. That said, Wil Wheaton is a great narrator -- his performance was a lot of fun.

bookishnerd I think Wil Wheaton made this book way better than it could have been for me. He does a great job! 8y
DoingDewey I felt the same way! I liked Lock In by Scalzi a lot better though and would definitely recommend the Wil Wheaton narrated version :) 8y

CROOKED KINGDOM was so great, a worthy sequel to SIX OF CROWS. There were great moments and compelling histories for each of the characters, all wrapped into a plot that seemed almost non-stop from start to finish. I loved the connections to the Grisha Trilogy, and I'm so sad my time in this world is finished, at least for now. Loved it.

Just a few pages into this one and I'm already excited. The very specific details the author is using have already started to bring Victoria to life for me.

This entire series tried to mash together way too much, but I still really enjoyed reading each book. I liked the ambition of it and appreciated that it felt totally different from anything else I've read in quite awhile.
