I love the idea of re-spinning the Greek myths, but rarely find they live up to expectations. Circe is a masterful tale even for readers with no knowledge of mythology or investment in the #metoo movement, of which it‘s a stellar example. Miller‘s Circe, Hermès, and Odysseus are beguiling—one wants to join them in their evenings by the fire—as are her depictions of motherhood, immortals, and the Minotaur. I‘ve read it three times so far.

#vacationread Couldn‘t wait; read before vacation. As a huge fan of rock group biographies (I‘m guessing the titular band is inspired by Fleetwood Mac), this book nailed it. The crazy codependent relationships, writing partners simultaneously growing and hurting each other as they work, the girls (and boys), sex, drugs—all there. I wasn‘t prepared for wanting to hear the songs, as eloquently as the genesis to tangible lifeforms are described.

Fascinating (and hopeful) descriptions of neuroplasticity—at any age.
