I'm absolutely loving this book. I love anything about Alaska. Has anyone got any recommendations of other books set in Alaska? I already have To the Bright Edge of the World to read soon.

Next read. Looking forward to getting into this one as I also have To the Bright Edge of the World to read.

2.5 stars. This wasn't an awful book, I did finish it but it also wasn't what I expected. from the cover and descriptions I expected creepy, tense psychological thriller but in my opinion it wasn't anything of the sort. Although it was a quick read I found myself skipping bits of it to get to the point.

This book is about family, food, love and friendship. it tells the story of Shelby, a single mum struggling to fulfil her dream of becoming a chef and Mallory, a well know cook and food blogger and how their lives become enriched by each other. The characters in this book are typical of characters you find in books set in the south and it is full of southern charm.

By the way this book was originally released under the title Simmer and Smoke.

Currently reading. WARNING do not read this book on an empty stomach! A southern book about friendship, love, family and food.

I absolutely adore Alice Hoffman's writing. I am now craving Chinese food and the love of a dog!
