If anybody is a fan of stunning Japanese actresses Meiko Kaji, then Tom Mes‘ Unchained Melody: The Films of Meiko Kaji is absolutely worth the price. It may be a small book, but it the quantity of information inside is more than I‘ve ever had on Kaji, who has long been my favourite actress working in film.

The Silk Roads is something I‘ve been interested in for quite some time but never took the time to do some real research into it. It‘s great to have time now to get more reading done!

Been very busy the past few months and had no time to read. So, thought I‘d start back off with “Room to Dream” by David Lynch and Kristine McKenna

Seeing the Terracotta Warriors on display once again was just as fantastic as it was the several other times I saw them. Having already read much on Qin Shi Huang, there‘s little else I imagine I will learn here. Yet, it‘s a lavish book, that goes well with the Exhibition itself. Plus, for anybody unfamiliar with China‘s First Emperor OR the Terracotta Warriors, this is a rich, informative look at the ancient intrigues and culture of the far East!

Whatever you choose to believe about the disappearance of Michael Rockefeller, the fact remains that it is one of the most intriguing of mysteries, and Carl Hoffman‘s “Savage Harvest” only serves to make it just that much more interesting.

Regardless of whether you believe what Hoffman proposes, his level of detail is so impressive that you learn much about Rockefeller himself, and not just the circumstances of his vanishing.

MStew Sounds great! 6y
ScottishNaturalWater @meghan2714 It‘s a pretty interesting read on a subject matter that has an almost criminal lack-of information about these days. 6y

If you were so inclined to read a lavishly produced large (almost intimidating) book on the subject of Italian filmmaker Lucio Fulci, you will discover that he is not just the schlock exploitation director that history would have you believe.

It‘s a thoroughly in-depth look at one of my favourite filmmakers, a director with such a raw untamed talent who is often disregarded. “Beyond Terror” shows that Fulci was just as interesting as his films.

Carrie | Stephen King

Pickpick

Having only ever seen Brian de Palma‘s adaptation of Stephen King‘s “Carrie”, I thought it was about time that I read the original novel.

Whilst I still hold the film in high regard, the novel is a far superior affair. Dealing with the unrestrained powers of Carrietta White in a realistic and thoughtful way, it is this approach that I appreciate the most from fiction dealing with the supernatural.

A great start to a wonderful career in writing.
