I went off to do a bunch of home improvement DIY stuff before winter sets in. After that I took a little vacation and actually went somewhere, and I ran across this in Winchester Cathedral. Which reminded me I‘ve only read one of the seven books of hers that I own, so it appears I‘ve got something else to do now. As Jane supposedly once said: “Ah! There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.” Amen, sista!

Panpan

I was given this book about 30 years ago and couldn‘t get into it. Having decided it was time to read it and let it go, I forced my way through Malte‘s uninteresting recollections of his childhood and whatever else he was rambling on about. Thank goodness he didn‘t blab on as long as Proust did. I couldn‘t have taken much more of it. A few worthy sentences for sure but the rest was a great big yawn. Good for insomnia though. 😴

Ruthiella At least it‘s off your shelf now. Good job! 👍 3y
inlovewithmyshelf @Ruthiella One down, many more to go. Stay tuned! 😂 3y
hannah-leeloo Welcome to litsy. Happy reading 📚 ❤📖 3y

Pickpick

This book explains the history, sociology, psychology, inventions, wars, political manoeuvrings and much more about our world today, as seen through the lens of geography. I wish I‘d learned this back in school as it would have saved me a lot of head scratching since then. But hey, everyday‘s a school day, right? Learn something new every day! 💡

Mrs March | Virginia Feito

Pickpick

Imagine if Mrs Dalloway were written by Shirley Jackson but it‘s Mrs March you follow around, listening to her thoughts, wondering where the line between her reality and fantasy lies. Is she slightly unhinged or truly psychotic? It‘s not clear until the very end. Then you know. Absorbingly creepy!

Ruthiella Glad to hear you liked this! I have it on hold from the library. 3y
inlovewithmyshelf @Ruthiella I‘ll be curious to find out what you think of it. 3y

Cell: A Novel | Stephen King

Bailedbailed

While clearing out some shelves the other day I ran across this unread book. Back in 1991 I read my first book by this author, which I remember enjoying a lot. I have nothing against zombies or horror but, unlike the other book, this book I really couldn‘t “stand”. #DNF

Ruthiella My own experiences with King have been hit and miss. I would like to try his mysteries however, one of these days.🤔 3y
inlovewithmyshelf @Ruthiella You gave most of the Stephen King books you‘ve read 4* on goodreads. That‘s mostly a hit! 3y

Ruthiella I didn‘t know you‘d been to Sri Lanka! 😮 3y
inlovewithmyshelf @Ruthiella Yes, we went to Dubai and then on to Sri Lanka in September 2017. Two utterly incredible places but I wouldn‘t want to live there! 🥵 3y

Oh man, I gotta get me one of these. Even though “galaxy” might be stretching it a bit.

Last Thursday I found myself in a bookshop in a city I‘d never been to before. It was my first trip anywhere in ages. While perusing the shelves I discovered another reason I like Edvard Munch. His angst drove him to create sublime works of art I can definitely relate to. 😱

Ruthiella Did you buy anything? Inquiring minds...🤔 3y
inlovewithmyshelf @Ruthiella Given my current moratorium on book buying due to the situation regarding my bookshelves having reached maximum capacity long ago, no. I ran away screaming 😱. 3y
DivineDiana It takes great strength to observe a moratorium! 💪🏻📚👍🏻 3y
inlovewithmyshelf @DivineDiana Indeed it does! I do occasionally suffer moments of weakness, though. 😬 3y
