#BookReport
Kind of a slow week and I feel like I'm heading into a major reading slump because I haven't even felt like listening to my commute audiobook.

#WeeklyForecast
My goal this week is to try and get at least 10% farther in anything I'm currently reading or even something I may pick up as a mood read. I just want to unslump.

Lowish pick because I thoroughly was enjoying everything about this until it just stops. Like in the middle of the action stops. It was very shocking and annoying to turn the page and instead of more story it was just ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS and I was very confused for a good five minutes.

I was going through my reading challenge records today and realized I forgot to review this on all of my logging sites. This is an interesting look at life below the poverty line. I think it's easy for those of us who do not have this lived experience to judge Land and people like her but I doubt we would honestly do any better if we found ourselves in similar circumstances.

Only managed to finish my commute book this week. I also am in a bit of a reading slump and haven't made much time for eye reading.

#WeeklyForecast
My goal this week is to finish GMatLP because I have a substitute shift where there is very little actual work to do. I'd also like to make more progress on OaFK.

This is a high so-so almost a low pick because this is very much an ideas novel versus a character/plot one. The main conflict is conformity and the collective against the individual and ingenuity.

Good reading week. Finished my commute book as well as the selection for the book club I moderate at work.

#WeeklyForecast
Goal this week is to make decent progress in my current reads. I'd like to get to the second story of TOaFK and about half way in GMatLP. I also need to start listening to my commute book again but it's a struggle because the narrator is not a vibe.

HAPPY #BOOKSPIN DAY TO ALL WHO CELEBRATE!!!

I'm pretty excited about these two because they are not chonky bois and I've been really looking forward to the tagged for ages but never got around to putting it in my to read rotation yet. I've been slotting in new titles from my list based on page count but I may have to be extra careful about what I put in slot 2 since it seems very popular this year!

Thanks you to @TheAromaofBooks for hosting.

This was good old fashion popcorn urban fantasy that is entertaining and escapist. We see our heroine slowly slide deeper into villainy as she deals with a slowly burning rage at what heroes have done to wrong her.

Finished the book I have to lead the discussion on at work so that was nice. I've made some progress in my current reads as well though not as much as I'd have liked.

My goal this week is to finish book two of OaFK and maybe finish listening to Hench now that I've replaced the earbuds I lost.

This book felt very Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girl Boss in the best way. I enjoyed watching the narrative unfold especially after the subtle twist is revealed in the midway point. I feel like this is a commentary on the American Dream and what it means to be successful.

This was kind of a wild ride and I really enjoyed it. It's a tiny bit confusing and a little slow to start but once i was in I was in. I think one of its strengths is that most of the characters aren't truly good or evil lots of shades of gray. In some ways it kind of reminds me of Mindy St. Claire on The Good Place.

Low pick because the characters were all kind of flat and the ending was kind of flat. I did love reading a First Nations perspective. I found the elder's words about apocalypse especially moving and thought provoking. This was sort of a slice of life slowly dawning anxiety horror and I enjoyed that more than the shock and awe horror/thriller archetype.

Another gorgeous day off that is perfect for reading outdoors. I have to be really careful with the chapter dates in this one because I am terrible at remembering what the main narrative timeline is and when there is a flashback. Idk why I‘m so bad at remembering dates while reading but it is what it is.

This was just okay. I did the audio and every time I listened I felt like I was watching a Disney educational reel from back in the day. This is an alt history but all of the characters were morally gray so it was hard to actually root for any of them. It also felt more like three novellas tied together by genealogy. There were definitely a lot of -isms that definitely left a bad taste.

I'm a sucker for a good heist novel but the heisty bits were the best part of this. As a romance it was F L A T no chemistry between the three leads at all. It was a pretty light and easy read as I read it all in one sitting. Also the dog does not get harmed if that is important to you (as it is to me).

CatLass007 Oh. Thank goodness about the dog. I would have stopped reading the book if there had been anything bad to happen. I‘m totally fine with fictional violence happening to people but not animals. Never animals. 2mo

This was really slow to start but I did enjoy it once it got cooking. I found Marjorie to be the most interesting because she was stuck in a very strict kind of rut and watching her break out of it and become the person she needed to be was interesting. At times certain plot points were obvious but you still wanted to read on to see how everything would play out.

I failed at all my reading goals this week but I mean it happens so I'm trying not to dwell on that. I've gotten to about 71% of the tagged and 48% in Grass. I also realized I'm never going to catch up with the ReadingWesteros read a long so I've put that book to the side and maybe I'll read it later or maybe not.

Goal this week is pretty much the same as last week: Finish both of my current reads.

I was a little worried about leaning in to my chunkster curse with the BookSpin pick being number 2 (I made my list starting with the chonky bois) but apparently 2 had already been picked so Hyperion is not as chunky as I'd feared! Hopefully I can knock both of these off the list this month.

I only picked this up for the SFF book club and was kind of really invested in the beginning but a little over half way it kind of slowed down a bit and it felt like a chore trying to finish. I think there's a lot to unpack about trauma and memory but I didn't really connect to the way it was laid out.

This was as dreamy and surreal as the titular circus itself. I found myself coming up with theories trying to tie the three separate narrative timelines together. The audio was good but I feel like in this instance it might have been a more immersive experience reading the text.

Absolutely loved this and a large part was the audio narrator. I feel like most Norse retellings trod the same ground so this POV was a nice surprise.

5feet.of.fury ❤️ this book, I agree I love Angrboda‘s perspective so much, I felt like Loki was very much the expected Loki so it was good not to have the whole focus there, but have it as a reference 2mo

Ocean's Eleven (2001) meets harder sci fi. The heist in this did not disappoint but there was also a lot to unpack about genetic engineering and slave/power dynamics. This was my commute audiobook but by about 60% I was looking for excuses to keep listening outside of that.

Low pick because I bounced hard off the physical copy with the weird pidgin talk writing BUT the audio was perfect because you didn't have to figure out how the words worked you just heard them as they should sound.
