I Survived the Nazi Invasion, 1944 by Lauren Tarshis is a Historical Fiction book about Max and his Sister Zena who try to survive and not being taken by the Nazis like their father did. This book is great to learn about the holocaust and introduce Hitler's Nazi troops. This Novel can be introduced to Students from middle school as a read aloud due to the audio tape. Students can follow along while the tape is playing during class. #UCFWalterslit

Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury is a Science Fiction Novel about a town of fireman who instead of putting out fires they set off fires by burning books. Books are being burnt in this futuristic society because they were offending people by their minorities. Montag faces some tough decisions by hiding some of the books he has stolen from previous fires in his home and realizing that books have more meaning to them then they assume. #UCFWalterslit

Erica.rivera This book will be for the higher level students such as middle and high school for a lit circle due to the intense vocabulary. Here is to help get started with a common core standard and lessons to go with the book. http://www.elacommoncorelessonplans.com/literature-reading-standards/exemplars-g... 6y

Wonder. R.J. Palacio | R J Palacio
post image

Wonder by R.J. Palacio is a Realistic Fiction based book about a young boy named August Pullman who was born with a facial difference. Throughout the book, R.J shows the struggles Auggie faces in the beginning to the end of the book and how the characters change towards Auggie's appearance. August is a bright kid who needed a little push by his parents knowing it's okay to be different. This book is very emotional and outstanding. #UCFWalterslit

Erica.rivera Here are some good vocabulary and worksheets to get the students thinking. I would defiantly have this book as a lit circle of grades 4th through high school. This book can stir up some amazing conversations that can be quite interesting. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Wonder-RJ-Palacio-Novel-Study-Questi... 6y

Trying to fit in, Cece struggles with her appearance due to her hearing box and try's to find a friend who will treat her like a normal kid. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Cnj5STG0SZo : Author Cece Bell.

CWalters Consider what grade level you would share this as a literature Circle book or perhaps a class read aloud. 7y
Erica.rivera @CWalters I would defiantly try to have this book as more of a Literature Circle base for the 5th through middle school students. They would have more knowledge and sense towards what is happening in the book rather than the younger students. Also, the students will be able to hold a class discussion on certain events or topics in the book. 7y
CWalters I agree! Definitely😊 7y
