#UCFWalterslit 'I Fly:The Buzz About Flies and How Awesome They Are' by Bridget Heos is a non-fiction picture book about flies and everything you need to know about them. I didn't expect the facts to be true because the book looks like it could be made up, but after checking the facts I now see that they're accurate! Students could visit this link to check if what they read in this book is real or not: http://pestworldforkids.org/pest-guide/flies/

How to Eat Fried Worms | Thomas Rockwell
post image
Mehso-so

#UCFWalterslit 'How to Eat Fried Worms' by Thomas Rockwell is a realistic fiction novel about a group of boys who challenge each other to eat 1 worm a day for 15 days to win $50. This is an easy read and it didn't really interest me, but I know this could really grab students that might not like to read. This link provides some classroom activities for the book, including enrichment activities: https://www.teachervision.com/how-eat-fried-worms

BLYTHE44 @BLYTHE44 #UCFWalterslit I remember this really funny/gross book from fifth grade. It kept me glued till the end. (edited) 6y

#UCFWalterslit 'Pop! The Invention of Bubble Gum' by Meghan McCarthy is a non-fiction picture book about how bubble gum was made. I really didn't expect all of the facts in this book to be true, but they are! (Proof: http://www.anb.org/articles/07/07-00839.html) This book is super cute and could be used as a read aloud in a classroom where students are learning about gum, inventors, or even history! I would definitely recommend this book!

jhudson I never knew such a book existed. The title and cover make this book desirable. I'll be reading this for sure. 6y

"Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Silverstein is a nice book full of poetry that could be very useful in introducing poetry and I can't wait to use this book in my class. I found this PDF for National Poetry Month that includes all things Shel Silverstein and it really has some useful activities for the classroom.
