This book. Masterfully written. Historically and darkly formed and framed, this story is in a word...bleak. That being said I couldn't put it down. I opted to listen to it too and thar really added to my immersion of the 1930s Kentucky atmosphere and culture. Highly recommend for mature readers only.

I LOVED this one. My second read from Alice Hoffman and i couldn't stop. I devoured this one in record time. This is an excellent read for anyone who is a fan of gentle dark historical magical stories. I adored the storytelling once more by Hoffman. Twisting lore into a tale of love, heartbreak, and consequences.

This was so interesting! Not the spy novel I expected but a great saga of a family dealing with the separation the Berlin Wall brought. This is an excellent book for someone wanting learn a rather thorough history of East Germany from 1945-1990. Something I knew of but hadn't truly learned about. If you wanted to do a book report on the topic this is a perfrct read for that.

Bookwormjillk I really enjoyed this book 3y

Another podcast format but it kept me listening. The creator had a pretty clear bias as it progressed. The first half was most interesting.

I know I chose the wrong book tag but that's okay. This one was interesting, more of a podcast than anything else. I learned a lot about Australia's greatest con man. I stuck with it through all the episodes. Which usually it's hard for me to do. Recommend for anyone needing an interesting listen for a long car drive.

I was hesitant to start this one since the Russian Revolution isn't really something I love reading about. But I was sucked in quickly and by surprise. I flew through this book. Which is also rare for me these days. I recommend this one for any history lovers who want something to take them away instantly.

I LOVED this short by Marie. When I was young I dreamed of going on adventures like this. Being a reader helped me get there in a new way.
It had more romance than I expected but it wasn't a negative. The authors notes at the end were just what an adventure loving women needed.

Malcolm pressed his finger on the scales of my constant battle between beloved authors once more. This is exactly what the subtitle says, how small things make a big difference. Who are Mavins, connectors and more? And what's the difference? And are you one of them?
The answer is between Malcolm's pages as always with fascinating detail and stories shared.

Set in turn of the century New York City and spanning across a millennium, I have to give credit to Helene. I've never read any of her other books but she's spun this story like a talented elder would around a campfire. I felt like a child being told a brand new fairytale for the first time. She told her story in great detail with exceptional flavor and imagery.
I recommend this book for anyone who loves history & great detail in a story

This is a prequel? I think? It was interesting but not my type of book. I tried. The author did a good job of shaping images, but he assumed you knew the rest of the story and I did not.

I can't recommend this highly enough. His recounting of his journey has opened my eyes to so much more about PTSD, which I've been studying. I'm definitely keeping this in the library so I can refer back to it when I'm in need of the details and scientific findings. This is an incredible story of healing, understanding former pains and generational curses on top of the effects of war upon generations. Emotional and physical.

I started this several times but couldn't get past the first scene. Not sure why just didn't hook me. But then I forced myself to get further. It picked up rather well with a good storyline. The end was an idea that illuded me but this genre isn't my type to begin with.

I kept expecting it to reach across the world and hit high octane but I have to say, it wasn't hard to still enjoy and feel just as sucked in. Overall, a good and interesting pick!

This one I wanted to love but I. Just. Couldn't. I don't know. I wasn't interested until chapter 16 and for any book thats tough to recover from. The only reason I didn't bail on this book is because I follow the author on Instagram and adore her. Plus growing up I wasn't allowed to abandon a book unfinished. Other than that, this book would have been tossed aside. Nadine said she excels more when not under deadline. Example. This book.

So many space gaps it's hard to keep track
The child, Felicia is written so unrealistically as she gets older, especially her thoughts and mind patterns. I couldn't take it realistically. I usually mindlessly love a WWII story. I love the idea with this one but it became so tangled.
Because it's a true story I give it a ton of credit, however I don't know how an editor let these glaring things slip by them.

This was an entertaining, quick read. I finish this one in one day. It does make me want to pick up a few of her other Memoir soon just for a rainy day. She picks up speed in the third or fourth chapter though, so give it a chance if you aren't sure about it at first. I didn't enjoy the mostly irrelevant stabs a politicians, for a bit it felt like she was trying to make sure she'd get published (as if this book wouldn't sell itself)

I think this is a great book. I used audible and I think I may have gotten more from it if I had to read it and been able to see them Italian phrases and maybe a few maps and pictures. The cities tend to run together are the names of officers get a little crowded in my mind. Other than that, this is a book I'd suggest anyone who wants a thorough history of just how big the mission was to save Italy's art during World War II

This is a very raw, pointed book by a woman of many hats. This book takes you on a rollercoaster of every emotion, tapping into your deepest fears and insecurities and helping you deal with them. Not something to read if you have a Christian worldview. Annnnd honestly... it's not as deep as people think.

If you want a thorough history of India and the fight for Independence and instability through the ages this is for you! For two men who met once when neither had much influence you'd be amazed how much they later influenced and fought each other for years to come. The final thoughts are incredible. Highly recommend if you need and want every detail imaginable about historical figures -like myself!

quote
Cathern

Many people have gone to church looking for God and have been met with the rules and regulations of religion. After encountering some of the Christians who "talk the talk" but who do not "walk the walk," they left without encountering God. Instead of drawing them in, many people's experience with churches and Christians has driven them away.

Has this happened to you?

I just have to say, I read these when they first came out and I was hooked. I'd never been soon sucked into a book before. I was floored. I read them while I brushed my teeth. I read them while I was at a stoplight, read them at the dinner table , read them until I was cross eyed in the wee hours of the morning. I can't recommend these enough. If you have a kid who doesn't like reading this is what I'll do them in. I promise.

This is, hands down, my absolute favorite book in the series. It has been since I first read it 15 years ago. The book on tape dramatization was top notch as well. This book takes place during the 4 great kings and Queens reign. (Before they stumble back through the wardrobe and become children again) It felt like CS Lewis wrote fanfiction for himself and loved it so much he published it. Every writers dream right?
