This book makes me want every alternate history novella there ever was.

This book is incredible

I was lucky to receive an early copy of this book from Netgalley and loved it! It was both painful to read and uplifting- the story of a teenage boy hoping to save his mum from domestic violence. Malcolm Duffy drew on his experiences of working with survivors of domestic violence while writing and it very sensitively written.

Thinking about my favourite books of 2017, including this sci fi thriller!

Just finished this great upcoming book by Hillary Monahan! A powerful story about sexual assault, magic and retribution.

Thought provoking, layered, brilliantly written

A lovely, optimistic but sensitive book about living with mental illness

I've started a long term project to read a book from every country in the world before I'm thirty. I'm starting with Iraq + 100, a collection of short stories by Iraqi writers that are set one hundred years after the British-American invasion of 2003.

Heartbreaking and beautiful

I really enjoyed this one. But is it telling of the publishing industry in general that f/f romances in YA rarely either happen or end well?

This turned out to be an incredibly clever horror story. In that it totally wasn't scary for the reasons I thought it would be and then it took me by surprise.
