The Call | Peadar O'Guilin

Currently reading The Call, by Peadar O'Guilin. It's a young adult novel, set in these times, about an old Gaelic legend of the Sidhe. The Sidhe "call" all teens to their spirit dimension for just three minutes of our time. Teens must fight for their lives; few survive and those that do are never the same. Disabled Tessa trains as she waits for her call determined to live. Similar to The Hunger Games, the novel is a new take on an ancient legend.

Pickpick

Came to this one a little late in the game, but I loved it. Complex relationships abound.

This book is one of the best I've found to engage reluctant young readers. At times laugh-out-loud funny, at times deliciously poignant, these bite-sized confections are perfect for sharing in read-alouds, or giving to your hard-to-please students. Hasn't failed in my classroom yet.

When I'm not reading books, I'm coloring in them. 😉

Haven't dived in yet, but every book I read on writing holds up Cheever's work as an example. Can't wait to see what he's about.
