so-so

3⭐️ and not even in the Litsy database. I wanted to like this one and did for the first half. Then the story seemed to have lost its way. Morton writes out a main character unexpectedly. The rest of cast wallows in their emotions and engages melodramatically in classist behavior. It was a shame because the plot was original and building upon nature vs nurture.

🎄 I‘ve wanted this edition for over a year now. I missed out on the first and only one I saw during that time. And when I saw it pop up on Abe, I had to treat myself.

A next year seasonal read, but I was pretty excited to unwrap it today! And maybe I‘ll read a little now, there‘s nothing wrong with keeping Christmas in your heart all year long. Isn‘t that what the movies say? 🧐

Jess_Read_This @LeahBergen this was my fourth attempt at trying to buy this book… the first two times faster people scooped them up when I emailed the sellers condition questions and the third time the seller canceled my order. I was lucky and had some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket. I‘ll keep an eye out for you! 2022 will be the year you get your copy! (edited) 2y

And yes, it‘s a sore spot when I get swooped but I can begrudgingly get it because I can be too slow with my inquiries on condition where there isn‘t a photo lol. I lost out on a copy of Sylvia Warner Townsend‘s Diaries (read the Slightly Foxed email on it)Opened the description and went to add it to my cart- and someone already bought in that 30 seconds lol. 2y

Jess_Read_This @BookBabe I love it too! So much nostalgia! I hope kids still have snowball fights nowadays. I did and this book was published in the early 1950‘s so kids did then. The memories of it all drew me to the cover. (edited) 2y
