4.5 stars rounded down to 4 for Goodreads. This was really good! The author kept the twists coming, surprising me. This would make a great limited series. I flew through this one. The suspense was great and you cared about the characters too. Julie Clark hasn‘t disappointed yet. My mystery thriller book club‘s pick for October but sadly can‘t make it to that meeting. The sprayed edges are so pretty!

I wasn‘t sure about this book at first but it really grew on me. I don‘t think there is a character in this book that is not dysfunctional. One of the most frustrating things about this book is that a hell of a lot could be cleared up if they‘d just talk to each other. So many secrets. So many lies. So much darkness. Solving (sort of) a 50 year old crime with little to go on. A very satisfying ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I liked this one, but it was a bit too slow. I thought the secrets could have been more evenly spaced than piled up at the end. 4/5

A great, twisty mystery about a decades old unsolved murder told from multiple POVs.

I especially loved the setting in Ojai, CA, as I used to live close by and have spent a lot of time there.

Bart's Books is in Ojai, and they sent me this signed copy 😊

2.5⭐
• psychological thriller • mystery suspense • wanna be true crime • teeny, tiny splash of romance •
The first half reads like true crime non-fiction—more instructional than entertaining. It goes off on tangents about crime-solving techniques rather than solving the crime. Once it refocuses on the story, it improves, but only marginally. Although it wasn‘t for me, it might work for someone who is just dipping their toes into this genre.

This is my first read by Julie Clark, and I loved it. A ghostwriter is hired by her father to write about the killings of his siblings. Did he murder them? Twists and turns that make you second guess yourself.

4 Stars • The Ghostwriter is a total page-turner that dives into some seriously messed-up family drama. Olivia, a ghostwriter down on her luck, gets roped into writing her dad Vincent‘s memoir. He‘s a creepy horror author who might‘ve killed his siblings back in ‘75, and now he‘s ready to spill the beans. Flipping between now and the ‘70s, you get hit with shady narrators, dark secrets, and a wild ride through their toxic family vibes. ⬇️

suvata Olivia‘s digging up her own rough childhood while chasing the truth, and man, those final twists slap hard. It‘s moody, suspenseful, and perfect if you love a good family mystery with a side of chills.
