Pickpick

I think this book does a good job of making quantum mechanics accessible to non-physicists, while discussing some of the biggest puzzles and debates in the field. Plus, it‘s got some funky examples and diagrams, like John-2!
Would be nicer if there was a more recent edition.
Still, if you‘re interested in an introduction to quantum mechanics and the problem of measurement without any intense math, I would recommend this book.

I thought maybe if I read physics in historical order - starting with Einstein - I would be able to see how the paradoxes arose from solutions to other problems.

Well, this was as far as I got.

I understand the concept of the uncertainty principle in that measuring a particle necessarily affects it. I was hoping to explore the roots of the "observer effect" by seeing what else might have been implied by Heisenberg in his own explanation.

I liked the book well enough. It was interesting but I expected more science. I‘m into metaphysics. It should have clearly stated it‘s a metaphysics book. This suggested more of a scientific lean, hence the slight disappointment.

✨Now that I know he's ours for sure (we weren't sure if he had rabies or not and didn't want to get our hopes up) I'd like everyone to meet Perseus! My boyfriend found him outside of work back in September and surprised me with him. I wasn't sure how Nyx or Athena was gonna do with him, but they all love each other now. He's only maybe 12 weeks old or so, but he's been doing great! Minus a little eye infection we can't seem to get cleared up.💜💜

AlaMich That‘s so great!! He looks like a sweetheart. 😻 And you‘re so lucky they all get along...that‘s always the scariest part of introducing new cats to your home. 6y
abbsinwonderland @AlaMich Yes! I was so worried about it. Especially because for maybe two weeks Nyx was not happy about it AT ALL. It didn't help that Pers had to be in isolation for a month. 😥 But I'm really glad she finally came around. 6y

Just finished the Letters to Young Mathematician and now this one 😀 My mind clearly wants something else than fantasy/horror now. I don't care. A good book is a good book and this is a good way to spend time when waiting for a car from checkout.

Mehso-so

Not a bad introduction to quantum mechanics. I read it while taking an intro to QM course and it covered all the same major topics. I didn‘t find it as useful as I was hoping, my textbook was actually more helpful (partly for the math and the depth it covered). There were also a lot of typos, particularly within equations, which was very frustrating. I wouldn‘t recommend this book.
