Yesterday was Virginia Woolf‘s birthday. How does one express the genius behind this talented author!? I have a small confession to make though... I avoided Woolf for years, because of the reviews and comments about how complicated and obtuse her writing style was, and how many found her difficult to read. But now, all I can say, the more I read her, the more I realize just how much I love and adore her writing. #virginiawoolf #mrsdalloway

I loved the book, “The Hours” by Michael Cunningham, so you‘d think I‘d love the Woolf classic, “Mrs. Dalloway” that it was based on but I‘m sorry to report that every time I pick it up I get through a few pages before I find that I‘m not in the mood for it.

Earlier today, I settled in with an iced pistachio milk matcha (absolutely delicious!) and savoured the last few pages of Mrs. Dalloway. I've loved dipping in and out of this beautiful novel; highlighting sections, making notes in the margins, digesting each and every word. The end of another month & season are fast approaching. Even though the heat has been stifling this summer, & I'm ready for a new season. I'm looking forward to a few last summer hurrahs. I'm also planning on finishing up each of the novels pictured above. I'm at least half way through each, & plan to have them wrapped up before the end of August.

Mrs Dalloway is one of my favourite books. I read it at least once a year. It's one of the finest examples of stream-of-consciousness writing and has such a dreamlike quality. Here's my folio edition looking cosy

I'm out of town on business and one of the first stops had to be a favorite café. Stumbled upon two years ago, ever since, all lattes and cafés have been rigidly compared. I'll even confess that I've dreamt on several occasions, of sitting in a specific spot by one of the windows, book in hand. Oh what a delight, when yesterday afternoon was spent just like this. Dreams do come true.
