Part 2. With plenty of references to fandom culture sprinkled throughout their dialogue and inner thoughts, Elle and Darien's voices radiate with the type of passion that characterizes hardcore fans. Part 1. Anyone who loves fairy tales will tell you that modernized adaptations of Cinderella are a dime a dozen, but this novel stands out as a fun romp through fandom culture. By utilizing Elle and Darien as alternating first-person narrators, Poston is able to equally develop both characters over the course of the novel, something that many adaptations of the classic tale fail to do.
