I know not how to capture in words the beauty of this charming novel. I love the evocative descriptions and most of all, Cassandra‘s voice, which is honest, and funny. I love reading her ponderings as she records everything in her journal. And what an array of quirky characters the household is. I wish I‘ve read this as an adolescent, and I can see why it has an enduring appeal.

Kalalalatja @Ruthiella @batsy there is a really pretty, yellow hardcover edition, which I own. I just can‘t remember the publishers at the moment, and I‘m too lazy to get up and check 😅 5y
