The Children of Red Peak | Craig DiLouie

Pickpick

I liked this book very much. We read about 5 survivors of a cult, 120 of whom disappeared almost 15 years ago. DiLouie weaves their present and past together giving them this tortured and tragic, kicked out of Eden vibes mixed with “what did happen to us? Maybe we should go back and find out?” I loved it all and really wished the best for these people. I listened to it on audio while roadtripping and was hooked the whole time. Pick!

BarbaraBB Great review. Sounds very good! 4d

Here we follow Sarah, her elder sister left when she was in her teens, never to be seen again. It's decades later when she gets the call that her sister is dead, found on a compound, part of a cult, and leaves behind three children.

This is split into two timelines, one where we follow Sarah navigating these three ophaned children. The other, her elder sister and children in their cult life.

I was far more interested in the present day.

I picked up Harmony during a long flight got 52% through, & never touched it again. LOVED the cult vibes, but it just didn‘t resonate. Maybe another time?

Another well-crafted and gripping addition to the Cormorán Strike detective series! Robin goes undercover in a cult to work on the case for Colin edensor trying to save his son Will. She endures starvation, humiliation, near drowning and sexual encounters to try to find an angle to disempower this malevolent group posing as do-gooders. Learning about what really happened to the Drowned Prophet will unveil the truth and prove criminal action.

What a book. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. Wait has a gift for crafting complex and engrossing stories that really get under your skin and make you think and feel deeply.

Single mother Stephanie gets drawn into the fold of a self-proclaimed "Prophet" and brings her daughter, Judith, to live with his isolated cult. Cont'd in comments...

TheKidUpstairs Flipping back and forth between their time at The Ark and Judith's life as a young adult trying to live with the aftermath of a horrific event that has sent Stephanie to prison, The Followers builds stream towards a chilling and powerful conclusion. Highly Recommend. 3mo

I‘m getting real creeps from the cult. Seriously, what is up with them. I‘ve got a weird feeling about them. I don‘t trust them.

GingerAntics Is this creeper planning to send her back to the stars? Kill her body? I‘m not okay with these weirdos. 4mo
