pickFinished my first book of #40for40 a few days ago and I didn't realize this was part of a series until now. Like, there's more!!?!!!?! OMG. I have a thicc stack of library books waiting for my attention but I'll absolutely be returning to this story.
A graphic novel set in the Ivory Coast, 1978. Brimming with drama and mess. Maury Povich levels of mess. Loved it.

It centers on the lives of 3 young women as they finish high school and get up to shenanigans. I appreciate the view of family tensions and how much they can vary.
pickSometimes a graphic novel is really the best way to highlight a situation that is difficult to comprehend. This is the story of a West African man from #CoteDIvoire who is desperate to immigrate to Europe but he can‘t obtain a legal visa. So he does what so many Africans do, they attempt to enter the EU illegally. The simple prose and line drawings are harrowing and haunting. pickThis graphic novel set in Cote d‘ Ivoire was full of entertaining drama!
pickI‘m not a GN reader, but I thought it‘d be fun to shake up my #ReadingAfrica2022 challenge by adding one in, and it was! I didn‘t enjoy how the story jumped quickly between the different characters, but I really enjoyed the art of the #CotedIvoire street scenes, and the pages at the end with a glossary, recipe, and other Ivorian info was fun.
