Ugh… I was so excited for this to be our #BooksNHoes #bookclub read, and while it certainly led to a lively discussion, it otherwise failed to live up to my expectations. For a “true crime” book, this harbors zero justice, and manages to get overly bogged down by COVID details to kill any kind of pacing. It sounds interesting but fails to deliver on so many levels. I kept feeling like while the women investigated, there was so much condescension!

Unmasked: My Life Solving America's Cold Cases | Robin Gaby Fisher, Paul Holes

I‘ve always admired Paul Holes and the work he‘s done. It‘s sad to read about how it effected his home life but his job is a HUGE part of who he is. I cried when the Michelle chapter came up, I knew she would get brought up but didn‘t realize she would be getting a chapter (with good reason 😭) Such an amazing book ❤️

In 2020, 4 women grew intrigued about a cold case and started to work together to investigate it. I had really mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, the book is well-written and propulsive and what they discovered is fascinating. On the other hand, they made amateur mistakes, nearly putting themselves at serious risk, and committed fraud. So I can‘t quite call this a pick.

This is a pretty straightforward Ballard/Bosch novel, with more focus on the younger Bosch. Touching on so many different cases and personal issues made this one a little challenging to follow sometimes, but it's still an enjoyable read.

I listened to the second half while cleaning my house for friends from out of state to come over. I had a lot of nervous energy, so a lot more things are clean than they were likely to see during dinner.

Los Angeles - Malibu. The MC lives at Paradise Cove where we had a wonderful lunch in November.

It‘s been a while since I got into the Bosch Universe, so I have skipped about 10 titles with this one. But because of the streamed version, I‘m feeling up-to-date.

Another great addition to the series- solving cold crime cases and getting the baddies! Unexpected twist in this one.
#serieslove2025 6/6 up to date in this one.

Hubby finished book, I'll read before taking back to the library. You can never go wrong with a Michael Connelly book, especially Ballard and Bosch...both Boschs in this book.
