Bailedbailed

I may be in the minority here but I just couldn't anymore. Took awhile to get into, it rose super nicely but then it just fell flat. I'm bailing at 250 pages, just feels repetitive the opinion is Mermaids are scary but beautiful. The different perspectives are barely even different. The romance feels forced. The science based conclusions seem rather obvious. I just don't find myself caring. I'm out. #bummer #muchlove #bye

The Magicians: A Novel | Lev Grossman

Bailedbailed

Everything about this book makes me furious, including this incredibly battered library copy, and I'm not finishing it. Stop calling it adult Harry Potter. It's not. 😛 #bye

HotMessJess Ok, do tell! I wanted to read because my husband liked the TV show so much! 7y
jesslovestype @HotMessJess I've heard good things about the TV show! The MC is seriously unlikeable (nice guy syndrome for sure). The writing is all tell-don't-show. The magic system is really poorly defined. And it's zooming through the schooling process which is the only thing I want to read about if this is actually gonna be adult HP. 7y
HotMessJess My husband really enjoyed the series. I saw a few episodes and it's not bad, but I have serious ADHD and can't focus on a show to save my life (with the exceptions of Parks and Rec, American Horror Story, OITNB and Veep). If a book is being touted with adult HP, IT BETTA BE ADULT HP! 7y

Pickpick

So I read (devoured, let's be honest) this tonight and although it didn't totally wow me like the one I read earlier today, this first in series cozy was still compelling, well written, and had me questioning whodunnit for most of the book. AND it's about this apple orchard, which makes ya homegirl from upstate New York (aka the nation's best apple growing region don't @ me) absolutely TICKLED with glee. 👁💛🍎 #ilovecozies #andapples #bye

BEST COMIC I HAVE EVER READ #BYE no but actually it is sooooooooooo good. All blood and violent murder so if that makes you squeamish stay far away. But it takes the typical mid 20th-century housewife and gives her a double life as an assassin that is totally the opposite of how we view women murderers. Women commonly murder silently, but Josie gets down and dirty in her work. Ugh. Wow. I am so glad I read this. Omg.

There is no conflict, no sexual tension, and this dialogue, which makes me physically cringe.
1. Queer relationships deserve better stories.
2. Every problem is solved by a single conversation.
3. There's literally no reason for the ex-gf character to be such a bitch except #internalizedmisogyny!
Don't get me started on the poor handling of the learning disability subplot which requires more than 451 characters to be upset about. 😛 #bye
