So, I‘ve never done this before and I‘ll probably get it completely wrong.... I‘m going to try to predict the Booker shortlist.

I‘ve read 10 of the #bookerlonglist2020, hibernated 1, and not yet read 2 (Who They Was and Some of These Hills)

The pic is of my 6 favourites, but I don‘t think that the Tyler or Reid should make the shortlist. Instead I‘ll substitute Love and Other Thought Experiments, and The Shadow King.

rachelm I‘m rooting for 4y
squirrelbrain That just missed out on my top 6 @rachelm - I nearly included it instead of Such a Fun Age.... 4y
BarbaraBB I hope your prediction is right!! 4y

JamieArc That‘s fun! I‘m rooting for Real Life too! Reading Redhead now. Next is either Burnt Sugar or How Much of These Hills. 4y
squirrelbrain Burnt Sugar is my favourite on the list( for pure enjoyment) , @JamieArc - along with the Mantel. 4y
squirrelbrain It will probably turn out to be the complete opposite @BarbaraBB 🤣 4y

Pickpick

This is a very hard-hitting novel, supposedly about a young boy growing up in Glasgow with his alcoholic mother, Agnes, although the book actually focuses much more on Agnes herself.

It‘s one of those books where nothing much happens, but I think listening to this on audio really helped with this, and the narrator was wonderful.

rockpools This is the longlist title that‘s calling to me the loudest. 4y
squirrelbrain It‘s unremittingly depressing @rockpools but I liked it... does that say something about me?! 4y
Kalalalatja I think it being more about Agnes threw me for a loop, because I expected something else 4y

TrishB I am going to read when I feel like a depressing read and I have been forewarned! 4y
Cathythoughts Sounds good .... I‘m a little afraid of it , but that‘s not a bad thing , stacked (edited) 4y
squirrelbrain Yes, it was very much centred around Agnes, and that didn‘t change throughout the book - should have been called Agnes Bain rather than Shuggie Bain! @Kalalalatja 4y
squirrelbrain It‘s definitely not a jolly read @TrishB @Cathythoughts ! 4y
