Finally picking this one back up after having not read it for...quite a long while! 😂 I seriously love it (and Cromwell!) so much that I hate to see it end! But I'm in for the long haul now! I'M WITH YOU TILL THE END OF THE LINE, CROMWELL! 😭💕📚 #averycromwellsummer

PS- this is a red velvet cupcake from a local bakery and I am SUPER excited about it!

Ruthiella I thought this was brilliant...but could have been a tiny bit shorter. Still, a worthy end to the trilogy. 3y
Meaw_catlady Im hungry for that cupcake ! Book looks intriguing ! 3y
BookwormM I totally felt like that even to the point of expecting history to change 🤣🤣 3y
CarolynM I'm still putting it off. Not ready for the end to come😭 3y
Branwen @Meaw_catlady The cupcake was AMAZING! 😍 @CarolynM Right?! 😭😢 @BookwormM I keep hoping Mantel will throw an alternate history plot twist in there! 😂🤣 @Ruthiella The pace is certainly really different from the first two books, ESPECIALLY the second book which to me read like a historical thriller! 😃 3y

😁😁😁👍💖

I'm on the second book in Mantel's Thomas Cromwell trilogy and I am absolutely loving it! Hands down the best historical fiction I've read about Tudor England.

"You fear he will turn on you," Chapuys says.

"He will, I suppose. One day." Sometimes he wakes in the night and thinks of it.

"But if that day comes," the ambassador says, "what will you do?"

"What can I do? Arm myself with patience and leave the rest to God." And hope the end is quick.

????? Poor Cromwell! ???#averycromwellsummer

I'm really happy to be jumping into this book! I missed Cromwell! 💕

Don't you just love my super healthy snack? 😉🍦

Ruthiella I just finished The Mirror and the Light and personally feel, while all three are brilliant, the middle book is the best. It is like the smartest thriller I‘ve ever read and kept me on the edge of my seat even though I knew the outcome! (edited) 4y
Branwen @Ruthiella Wow, really?! That makes me even more excited to keep reading! I was really blown away by how much I loved the first book. I couldn't put it down! This is definately lining up to be one of my favorite series! 😀💕📚 4y

"At New Year's he had given Anne a present of silver forks with handles of rock crystal. He hopes she will use them to eat with, not to stick in people."

?????

I love the wit of Thomas Cromwell! ?

After blowing through all three of my June BOTM picks over the weekend it is time to jump back into Cromwell's England of 1530! 😁💕📚 #averycromwellsummer

vivastory Which was your favorite of the 3? What did you think of the Sager? 4y
Branwen @vivastory I actually think the new Sager was my favorite of the three! It was so spooky and intense I couldn't put it down! 4y
vivastory I agree. It was a good one! 4y

It's Sunday, which means time to check in with #aVeryCromwellSummer readers! How is it going? Have you started? You're doing great! If you haven't, there's still time. I focused my reading on black authors this week, but I did read section one. So far, I like it. How are you faring @Branwen and @ulyssesartmiller?

nomadreader So far my favorite character is Liz. She's so interesting. 4y
SamAnne I had missed this thread but I did finish Wolf Hall a couple weeks ago and was thinking of reading Bring Uo the Bodies in July. It‘s quite the ride. 4y
ulyssesartmiller This book is great. I love how witty Mantel is. I'm about halfway through section two. And I love how Cromwell's character is shown in the prose: a pause to consider a reply always involves him noticing visual details around him, which occasionally (yet regularly) make him spin off on some thought tangent, and then he totally forgets he's having a conversation with someone. 4y
Branwen I am absolutely loving it so far! 😀📚💕 I really love how Mantel can just take these historical figures and make them feel so real, you know? And her writing is just so witty! I'm really loving it! I've finished section 2 and plan to keep going tomorrow! 4y

This book is absolutely reigniting my love for all things Tudor England! 🇬🇧 😍 I've read a lot of historical fiction about this time period, with my favorite authors being Jean Plaidy, Alison Weir, and Phillipa Gregory, but this book so far is blowing my mind like never before! I just finished Part II and am about 150 pages in!

PS- cucumbers and dip are such a delightful snack on a hot, hot day! 😋

SamAnne Recently finished and loved it. Looking forward to reading Bring Up the Bodies this summer. 4y
Leftcoastzen I loved it too! I‘m not sure whenI will get to second book , hope to soon! 4y
Branwen @SamAnne @Leftcoastzen That's so awesome! I'm planning on trying to finish this in June, Bring Up the Bodies in July, and The Mirror and the Light in August! 😀💕📚 4y
