I can't even detail all of the amazing history I learned from this book that I didn't know before. A great read, an important read. (And the audiobook is also pretty good. Almost all the sections are read by their authors.) This is definitely one I will have to read many times over to get the full effect of. #400souls
2nd book finished for #anywayyoureadathon

#scarathlon (5 points + 1 for posting) + 3 hours x 10 points (#anywayyou) = 36 points

rjsthumbelina @megnews thanks for hosting this #readalong and I'm looking forward to starting #othersuns! 3y
rjsthumbelina #scarathlon total points so far for #teamslaughter = 1,954 I believe 😊 3y
megnews You‘re welcome! I didn‘t realize most of the authors read their sections. That truly makes it a choir of voices. I don‘t normally reread but I may have to give it a listen because that sounds very interesting. 3y
rjsthumbelina @megnews I loved being able to listen to each author. Truly adds to the experience 3y

I must say I kind of fell for “What you want”.

But all in all, I can‘t take all those plays too serious. I think I am too factual and rational to do so. 🤷🏽‍♀️

But this compilation is really great. 😃 The summaries are easy to follow but also detailed. And I was very impressed by the language used. 😍 It‘s so Shakespearean but yet understandable.

“The Tempest” was the 8th of the 10 presented plays.
At first I thought: “Oh, cool, magical realism!” but oh my‼️ This one was barely able to hold my interest. 🥱

On the pro side: My reading-clock shows 8:32 hours. Together with my 1:36 hours from yesterday morning this makes 10:08 hours in total. And still counting. 💙

Cool, I never thought I‘d really clock in > 10 hours of (audio-)reading / “audio library-ing” in this weekend.

Really good “your modern YA-novel”. Ok, I 🙄 when it came to her father no finishing taking his antibiotics (how convenient).
But there‘s no annoying love triangle in there (although there is one) and the forest and the wolve was all so interesting and kept me wanting to know more. 💚🐺

Pity, I soon lost overview over all the village people – and in the end also over the family ties. (But I‘ve never been good at that.)

Continuing in YA. I decided to reduce readathon-“pressure”*) by keeping on counting audiobooking and “audio-library-ing” as reading.

*) 🙄 Rest assured, there‘s a high probability that it‘s me, not the event[s]

I so far listened to 3 more of Shakespeare‘s tragedies.

• Othello
• Romeo and Juliet
• King Lear

The last one was the only one I didn‘t know nothing but the title of. Maybe that‘s why I liked it. Or maybe I only could relate to a protagonist with dementia.

But in general: What‘s wrong with Shakespeare⁉️ Envy, grudge and violence everywhere. Together with fair maidens and painting everything black and white.

Didn‘t set goals for Andrew‘s @Andrew65 one-week-#AwesomeApril-readathon.

Since it includes @kimmypete1 @Eggbeater and @MidnightBookGirl ‘s #AnywayYou-readathon that I might have set too high goals for, I decided to include them into Andrew‘s readathon and just add wanting to start this Markus-Zusak-book or the tiny unnecessary-knowledge-book I tagged. In all cases, I plan to flip through the gin-book because it might become a birthday present.

Andrew65 Good luck, a lot going on 😊👍 3y

Until now, I didn‘t come too far during #AnywayYou-readathon. I set my goals yesterday before I learnt about Prince Phillip‘s death and when I did, I was surprised how much it brought up my own sorrow and mourning about my own father‘s death, again.

So I didn‘t manage relevant progress yesterday but I will count in the 1:36 hours of audiobook/audio library I‘ve so far had today and now try to get a good bite into my YA-novel (pictured left).

Jari-chan Here's a hug if you need one ❤ 3y

Andrew65 Going great 👏👏👏 3y
Buechersuechtling @Andrew65 Thank you. Are you (feeling) better❓ Last thing I remember is that you had a demanding time at work. 3y
Andrew65 Have a week off this week thankfully. Work been demanding but have also had a family COvID bereavement to deal with so been a difficult period. After half-term will be preparing for all children to return to school again, presumably on 8th March. Challenging time to be principal / head of a school, or even a teacher, Thanks for asking, hope all good for you. 3y

Buechersuechtling @Andrew65 (1/2) I apologise for my question if it re-opens the sores and the grief. I didn‘t mean to be tactless. – I am okay. My muscle pain got better (let‘s hear it for pharmaceutical industry), my job at the moment is no longer a rat race (I enjoy that as long as it lasts), but my father is severely ill with one disease (not COVID-19 but bad enough) and now is … 3y
Buechersuechtling @Andrew65 (2/2) … developing another severe life changing condition. *sigh* But I allowed myself to take the weekend off to have some me-time and to deal with this again from tomorrow on. – I hope you‘re having supportive people around you. Take care of you, be kind and indulgent to yourself and always remember there‘s Littens here that will distract and support you if you feel like it. 🤗 3y
Andrew65 @Buechersuechtling It was not tactless at all, and it shows you care. 😊 Sympathise about your father, it was my mother in law who died in mid January. We‘re doing as well as we can and unfortunately so many families affected 😔 She was 89 so had a good life and dementia meant her quality of life was deteriorating. The support from everyone has been great and my chair of governors made sure I took a few days off at least. (edited) 3y
Andrew65 @Buechersuechtling Me time at the moment is important for all of us and that is what I am planning to do this week during half-term. Take care and know you are in my thoughts as you deal with the myriad of issues caused by your father‘s illness. (edited) 3y

🙌🏼 #AnyWayYou-Readathon by @kimmypete1 @Eggbeater @MidnightBookGirl

As always during lockdown, I schedule 1 or 2 nice (late) breakfasts with a boiled egg, a bun, curd and a newspaper. 🗞 🤩

Apart from that, I take the easy way: Low goals and just enjoy being and (audio)reading. ❤️

I wanna finish the tagged book and hope that I can continue to draw lessons from it that I am able to implement.

Start 🇩🇪 „Der Liebe eine Stimme geben“.

Eggbeater Sounds nice! Thanks for participating! 3y
kimmypete1 Thanks for joining! 3y
