Been looking forward to this month‘s podcast for Eclectic Readers. Was the first time I got to read the book before the podcast aired. Even though I was a “so-so”/3 stars for my review, I still enjoyed their analysis of the book. Great stuff!

jmtrivera So glad you got a chance to read along with us! 😊 6y
EclecticReaders Glad you enjoyed our chat! 6y
Ruri_kaichou Glad you enjoyed our discussion! I was definitely in the minority with this book 😅 6y
BillBlume @Ruri_kaichou true, but I got the feeling you still enjoyed it a bit more than I did. Think this was a case where I sabotaged myself by not knowing enough going into the book. 6y
Ruri_kaichou @BillBlume I always forget the summary of a book 😅 but that can definitely affect your read. There were just one too many things that I didn't like but the basic premise was neat. I wish I liked it more. 6y

In the home stretch of this novel (just under a hundred pages to go). Got about a day and a half left before the library ebook loan expires. Getting in some reading time and something sweet before going into work. #ERMadLibs #fantasy #ZenCho #starbucks

Okay, so that‘s not really what she says in the scene, but it‘s reaaaaaally close. Close enough that, yeah, my brain went here. If not for the fact I think this lady is cleverly manipulating Mr. Wythe, having her do this might bother me more. Keeping my fingers crossed the woman in question won‘t get reduced to rescue bait (I‘d be shocked if she does). #YoureMyOnlyHope! #fantasy #ZenCho #ERMadLibs

I‘m about a quarter of the way into Sorcerer to the Crown, and I get the feeling a lot of Zen Cho‘s work up to the start of chapter eight has been to get her key players together. I like the humor in the story, thus far. That was unexpected. On the downside, a lot of the “proper” behavior by the key players, while appropriate to the setting, undercuts the building tension. #ERMadLibs #fantasy #ZenCho #SorcererToTheCrown

There‘s a nice twist at the end of the first scene of chapter one. That said, I‘m finding Zen Cho‘s writing style requires a little getting used to. The formality of it fits with the setting. It‘s also more distant than I‘m used to in most of today‘s books, which tend to cling closer to the chosen POV, even when in third person. #fantasy #SorcererToTheCrown #ZenCho #ERMadLibs

Two hours into the new year, and I‘m diving into the first of the books I‘m reading for the 2018 Eclectic Readers Mad Libs Reading Challenge. I‘d already had Zen Cho‘s Sorcerer to the Crown on my TBR, but the Eclectic Readers Podcast is also featuring this book for the January podcast, giving me incentive to move it to the top of my stack. #ERMadLibs #ZenCho #SorcererToTheCrown #fantasy

EclecticReaders Yay! Happy New Year! 6y
BillBlume @EclecticReaders thanks. Same to you! 6y

For my “Noun” in the 2018 Eclectic Readers Mad Libs Reading Challenge, I decided to go with the book the @EclecticReaders podcast will be focused on next month, Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho. It‘ll be the first time I get to read along with the podcast, so I‘m looking forward to that. #ERMadLibs #ZenCho #SorcererToTheCrown #fantasy

rubyslippersreads I bought this as an ebook ages ago—I should move it up my TBR list. 7y
BiblioNyan @rubyslippersreads I wish there was a physical copy of it. I bought it because I felt a slump coming on. It was the perfect fix!! You should totally read it soon. 😃😃 7y
