Saw this and thought it‘d be fun! I work as a mermaid 🧜‍♀️ and I‘ll do story times by the pool side. I also have a pool in my backyard and sometimes if the weather is nice I‘ll sit back there to read. Hence, Pages by the Water 🌊 📖

Saw @Mandigolightly & @kaye posts. Wanted to introduce myself to new Littens as well. Mine is my Parasol Protectorate name as per author Gail Carriger: Your Most Frivolous Piece of Clothing + Your Favorite Food = Parasol Protectorate Name. Crinoline makes a simple dress fancy. Laphroaig because my favorite food changes with the seasons but my LOVE of Laphroaig whisky always remains. 🙋‍♀️

I served In Liberia as a Peace Corps educator and while there I joined with the Librarian at my school to run a first ever reading camp for the elementary students during the summer break. This was one of my biggest joys giving the gift of reading to these students! Sooo my name is Lib Lib for Liberian Librarian! #whatsyourhandle @kaye

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego That's a good story! 5y

I went thru a phase of reading all about fin-de-siecle Paris in my twenties and the idea of the idle wanderer about town always appealed to me. I know I should be a flaneuse but my real name is Annette so I modified it a bit

Hello littens,

The inspiration for my handle is from Neil Gaiman‘s Anansi Boys. When I signed up on litsy it took almost two weeks to come up with something not already taken. I reached my limit of patience with the constant notification of “username not available” when I took my chance with changing the gender from a book title I was reading three years ago.

#whatsyourhandle @kaye

tpixie That turned out great!! 5y
SconsinBookyBadger @tpixie it was a last ditch effort of inspiration and voila I had a litsy username 😅 (edited) 5y
tpixie @AnansiGirl whew! And a great one. I think it was a name of a perfume too! 5y

In response to @kaye 's query: My handle is the nickname I've had for years--since high school, in fact. I am of the generation where there were a lot of girls named Amy. There were 4 of us in my class alone! So my friends called me "Amiable" instead. I think (hope?) it's because I'm friendly! ?

#whatsyourhandle

kspenmoll Love your handle‘s story! 5y
Kaye We had 5 Julies in my class. 7 in the high school. Must‘ve been popular back in the 50s/60s (edited) 5y
Amiable @kaye @kspenmoll I was born in the late '60s. My mother got my name from a character on "Secret Storm," which was her favorite soap opera at the time. Apparently a lot of moms were watching the same show--Amy became one of the most popular girl names within a few years. ? (edited) 5y
