Another series I'm rereading this year - absolutely LOVED the Swallows & Amazons books when I first read them, so I'm going through them again. This is the second book in the series, full of exploring, pirates, shipwrecks, mountain climbing, caves, and more! Every page was a delight.
Float Plan begins the healing journey for Anna who is struggling to find closure after boyfriend Ben overdoses on medications and alcohol. Turning tragedy into adventure, Anna sets sail to Puerto Rico with only the his travel itinery. She hires Keane Sullivan in a manner which seems clandestine. Anna encounters many unexpected situations in which she learned to be open and flexible allowing her to discover her authentic self.
I'm going on a bit of a review binge this morning. Sorry for the spam! 😂
I read this series back in 2019-2020, and loved every page of every book, so I'm rereading them!! My original review of this book said that it was like being wrapped in a loaf of warm, homemade bread, which is kind of a mixed metaphor, but you get my point. It's cozy, wholesome, and delicious. I think this book is practically perfect. All the stars.
A husband decides to buy a boat and sail around the world with his wife and two small children. He‘s a bit of a jerk, and she‘s a hot mess. Throw in some storms, trouble with the boat, and a mysterious bad thing that‘s referenced in the current timeline…and you get a long winded ride to nowhere. Sometimes a dual timeline is fine, and sometimes you just want someone to get to the point. Also the last chapter is a total needle scratch.
Marriages have failure points, just like boats. . . . If you would rather not know the failure points, do not go sailing.
This was a thoughtful and thought-provoking novel. It was definitely a pick, but there were some things about it I'd have changed. The whole last section seemed disjointed and unnecessary. It was a small section, in a book that was good overall, but it left a bad taste since it came last.
