Anne Powers was a prolific novelist who wrote 17 epic historical adventures filled with suspense & seduction. She was also my cherished college professor who brought real live authors to speak at our freelance writing class & taught 2 big lessons:
*Be passionate about everything you write.
*Your writing is worth something—so much so that someone would be willing to pay for it. Thanks Mrs. Powers for believing in us.

UwannaPublishme The tagged book is my #BookSpin #Number 10. It‘s an action-packed saga set in the Elizabethan era with such intricate details and heart-wrenching conflicts. It‘s evident Anne was an avid history buff and sailing enthusiast. She published these novels from 1946-1987. 4y
Crazeedi That is SO cool! An author as professor, how inspiring she sounds, I've never heard of her, but the books sound really good too. Can't believe I never saw 4y
TheAromaofBooks What a fun connection!!! She sounds like an inspiring person and a great author!! 4y

UwannaPublishme @Crazeedi Oh, she was the best teacher! To listen to her and other authors giving us firsthand tips about writing. I couldn‘t wait to go to this class. There is so much detail and drama in her book, it could have been a miniseries. 🥰🙌🏻 4y
UwannaPublishme @TheAromaofBooks Thanks to #BookSpin, I was meant to finally read one of her books and relive my wonderful memories of this great teacher. So thank you for that! 🙌🏻 4y
Nute Two excellent lessons. Her words are inspirational even outside of the walls of her classroom. Thanks for sharing! 4y
PurpleyPumpkin That‘s amazing to have enjoyed her classes. So inspirational! I‘ll have to add this to my never-ending tbr. 😁👍🏽📚 4y
UwannaPublishme So eloquently said, @Nute ! 🙌🏻 It took me a few years to really appreciate these lessons. 4y
UwannaPublishme @PurpleyPumpkin She had such an impact on my life. And I see I‘m having an impact on your TBR pile. 😁📚😉 4y

Here‘s a crazy fun read for bibliophiles who love movies. Plenty of photos and trivia on literature covered in the film industry and which books Hollywood icons love to read. Can you name the films where these fictional bookstores appeared? 1. Acme Book Shop 2. Argosy Book Store 3. Embryo Concepts 4. Flourish and Blotts 5. The Shop Around the Corner (Answers below👇🏻)

mrp27 The Los Angeles public library has a Gregory Peck reading room. He used to hold readings once a week. As if he wasn't swoon worthy enough! 4y

This poetry book is just so adorable! It‘s a great book for RA to your younger students because it teachers them numbers, as a plus it rhymes! The UDL strategy I chose is 2.3 - supports deciding if text, mathematical into , and symbols. The EL strategy I chose is #16 integrate speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities. After reading this book I would have my students practice writing their numbers on a practice sheet! #ucflae3414sp20

Brennap I remember reading this book when I was younger. I know its perfect for teaching younger students about numbers in a fun way! 4y
charlotteclancy Growing up I loved this book! It is very engaging for children because they can catch on to the words in the book. It includes numbers as well to incorporate math! Great read :) 4y
VictoriaG This was one of my FAVORITES to read! This is something that I have seen many teachers use in math lessons! 4y
DrSpalding I wonder if Ryan knows about this book! He did such a lovely job on his storytelling. This would be another great storytelling opportunity but one that enhances number sense. 4y

Librarybelle What an awesome idea! I‘m already thinking how my library can partner with a local agency to do something similar! 5y
DivineDiana @Librarybelle That would be wonderful! The Library has been doing this for years, and they use a few different books during the year. Longwood Gardens is not always the partner. Good luck! (edited) 5y
tpixie Love this idea!!! 5y
