LibrarianRyan I know what‘s going to win, but come on, the Great American Read should not be a British book. 6y
JaclynW @LibrarianRyan Good point! 6y
Amandajoy @LibrarianRyan that was my confusion with the whole thing. Why were there so many British novels? Don‘t get me wrong, I love a good British novel, but I think we missed the point. Or at least I did. 6y

DGRachel @LibrarianRyan You are the first person I‘ve seen that agrees with me. I love novels written by international authors, but I feel the Great American Read should be written by an American. It‘s in the title! It doesn‘t have to be one of the DWM, but I do think it should be an American. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
LibrarianRyan @DGRachel 🤓👍🏻. I love the show and everything. And it might be interesting to see if PBS does a spin off that just covers certain things. Plus think off all they great books they missed because of all the non American classics on the list. 6y
rwmg @LibrarianRyan @Amandajoy @DGRachel I wondered that at first and then decided it's the Great American READ not the Great American WRITE so it's books Americans enjoy reading, wherever they come from 6y
Amandajoy @rwmg I didn‘t think about it from that perspective. 6y
Peddler410 @rwmg I totally agree. 6y

LibrarianRyan Interesting match up. Old classic vs new classic. Hummmmm🧐 6y
Caterina Aww I wish The Color Purple had done better 💔 6y
TheLudicReader C‘mon. It‘s not fair to pit these two together. 6y
Peddler410 I had to go with Anne because twice I had started The Book Thief and I have yet to read it all the way through 😐 6y

Itchyfeetreader This is the first one I have found really tough to vote on 6y
kgriffith @Itchyfeetreader Same! I‘m going with TCP because it involves both women‘s issues and race, but it‘s a tough one for sure. 6y

MrBook @LibrarianRyan @Peddler410 So were the two of us. Only won by one vote though, so at least it wasn't a major upset sort of thing. 6y
Zelma Wow, I knew that would be a knock down, drag out fight. What a finish! 6y

Libby1 I hated BOTH of these! 🤣 6y
Peddler410 Gone with the Wind got me through the summer of 1988 — my grandpa‘s death. I think that might be next year‘s epic reread. 6y
