I can‘t believe I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. This is not the stuff I usually read, but this actually has some great usual tactics that could be used not just for war or battles but for other strategic situations. Very informative and quite entertaining 😊 Part 13 - The Use of Spies was definitely the most interesting section

As someone who lives with ADHD, I don‘t often find characters with traits like mine. Helen Burns is an exception. She daydreams, struggles in school, & can‘t stay organized. The scene where a teacher writes “slattern” (a dirty, untidy woman) on a piece of paper & makes Helen wear it on her forehead made me 😢. It shows the shame and stigma surrounding ADHD, especially for women. I can‘t wait to read more!

Ms_T The way Helen is treated is shocking. 3y

I'm starting my reading in French July with listening to Leroux's masterpiece at work while weeding books. I've read this a few times so I know the plot still it's so well done. I'm enjoying it. #audiobook #readinginFrenchJuly #librivox

View on my morning walk. Just got the #LibriVox app so I‘m listening to the tagged book on my #audiowalk instead of music or podcasts as usual. Finished the Alice Isn‘t Dead podcast so needed something new.

Soubhiville Are you in Austin or nearby? Have you seen my posts about the meetup/ bookclub next weekend? 4y
SW-T In. NW area. I‘ve seen the posts but can‘t make it 😢 4y

Well I‘m not gonna make #24b4Monday or #24in48 because I only have 8 hours total at this point and haven‘t done any reading yet today. But I‘m okay with that because I was working hard on my writing biz since early this morning and got a lot done. I feel completely justified in chilling the rest of the day, I‘ll be bouncing between this book, Queen Sugar in audio, and maybe a little #Librivox in the mix. @Andrew65 @ReadingMermaid

Andrew65 That‘s still a good total! 👍😊 4y

Did about two hours of recording and then editing some chapters for #Librivox this morning to kick off my #24b4Monday challenge. This is the illustration from the chapter I read from “Ancient Tales and Folklore of Japan” from the story of Watanabe Tatsuzo, a Tokugawa holdout who refused to recognize the Meiji restoration. He was executed by Meiji general Saigo Takamori, but won Saigo‘s respect for his honor. @TheReadingMermaid @Andrew65 #24in48

BeansPage Love the illustration 😍 4y
ColleenIsReading Isn‘t it cool? It comes from the actual text, I was happy to find it online. It shows the moment Watanabe gets busted by a sentry as he tries to sneak in and assassinate some Meiji honchos. I am looking forward to this book being released so I can listen to the rest of it—I really enjoyed my 2 chapters! (edited) 4y

I did my first readathon at New Years and loved it, so I‘m excited for this one. It‘s my promised treat motivating me to get all the things done for this week so I can truly indulge. Time spent reading/recording/prooflistening for #Librivox counts, right? Because I have 2 chapters left of the Haines book and I aim to finish this weekend!
