I‘ve had my eye on the Creature Feature. So, it was one of the first things I grabbed when I got it. This collection was all over the place. I enjoyed a few of the stories but then there were several I really didn‘t like. They‘re short books so I‘m glad I gave it a try, but overall, I think this collection was a miss for me. But if you want to know my thoughts on each story head over to Wildwood Reads to check out my mini reviews.

Hi. It‘s February. I forgot that yesterday was the last day of January. If that‘s any indication of how this year is going to go, then I better get ready for a wild ride. Anyhow, let‘s get to my January 2024 wrap up.

I read a few good books and a few duds. So I‘m hoping February is a better reading month all around.

Full wrap up: https://wildwoodreads.com/2024/02/01/january-2024-wrap-up/

KateReadsYA These all look so good. What star rating did you give Tess of the emerald sea?? 2mo

wildwoodreads @KateReadsYA I‘m still up in the air but I‘m leaning towards 4 or 4.5. It was a lot of fun. It lagged towards the middle but the ending was great. 2mo

Willy and Marianne mive from Brooklyn to a small town in Maine. There is a religious sect known as the Sin-Planters in the town. And there is something just not right with this little pram Willy is using to haul groceries.

These two short stories, which are part of Amazon‘s new Creature Feature collection, were creepy, quick listens perfect for this time of year. Joe Hill is a favorite author of mine, but I have to say I enjoyed Ankle Snatcher even more. Both were really creepy but Ankle Snatcher was a little more unsettling to me. The Pram: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Ankle Snatcher: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 #scarathlon #skeletoncrew

intothehallofbooks I loved listening to this collection! Ankle Snatcher was my favorite from the collection, but they‘re all fun! 5mo

#AutumnPlease

Listened to this weekend for #Scarathlon this short horror story worked well as we wonder how much of it is the MC‘s grief-filled #Delusion

Good creepy vibe & the narration was great. This is the 2nd #CreatureFeature selection from Amazon that I‘ve tried.

Not a huge point getter but 250 for ScarathlonWordSearch + 20 points + 6 for this post/photo challenge participation makes 276 points for Team #SpookyGhostClub & readathons ⬇️

TheSpineView Great job!🤩 5mo
AmandaBlaze I think if you read or listened to it for the photo challenge, you get an additional 15 points. 5mo

Going on a Joe Hill deep dive. So far, I've only begun the Locke & Key series, but I'm looking forward to starting, Heart-Shaped Box this weekend.

Just in time for the spooky reading season! A young couple moves to the country in Maine following a heartbreaking miscarriage. The story focuses on Willy, who works from home and is aching for a family. He visits a small grocery store nearby and the owner offers him an old, rickety baby stroller to carry his groceries home. In true Joe Hill fashion, this story took me on quite the creepy journey.

Well. This was frighteningly clever. To me, it felt like a musing on toxic masculinity — a sort of reverse Rosemary‘s Baby meets Children of the Corn. So often stories centered around losing children are through a female lens, so this felt pretty unique and definitely scary. #Scarathlon
