In 2008 my brother & his family lost their home to horrifying CA wildfires.Fortunately his wife,smelling smoke,woke & yelled for him & their daughter.They got out unharmed.They lost everything, a car, a truck & a garage.The house looked like black burnt sticks.
He was a huge Tolkien fan & had all first edition books.I had borrowed this book from him.He cried when I told him I had his edition. #AjumpintoJanuary #JRRTolkienDay

Happy #JRRTolkienDay! I had quite a moment with Lord of the Rings in my late teens, and am so glad I did; I am all the better for having absorbed Tolkien's mythology, languages, and moral philosophy at that time in my life. That said, however, I am #confident that I never need to read The Silmarillion ever, ever again! 😆 #InspiredNewYear #JumpIntoJanuary
