Pickpick

4.5✨This was a really fun read. It had fantasy with magic, deep sea scuba diving for ship wreaks, crazy unexplained natural phenomena, and a couple of plot twists. There are 3 main POVs that help tell this story and it is mapped out really well. Since there is a time line change there is quite a bit of characters which I struggled with, but it was everything I hoped for. 🥰 #HTBookClub

3✨ I really liked the fantasy concept in this story. We have a woman that is strong and her finding a way of breaking a spell on a demon. This causes them to go on an adventure to free other demons controlled by the goddess. Getting spicy really quickly is not my favorite type of romance, and the plot was a great idea. I wish we would have gotten more of the story itself. #HTBookClub

1✨ Normally I am a fan of dystopian, but this one was too much. Maybe too real? There were several POVs which were all pretty similar (at least all the females). Women found they had actual power and instead of equality they decided to take over. There was rape, and sex as a tool that were hard to read through. Also along the story was murder, and justification using scripture throughout. #HTBookClub @Littlewolf1

I have a lot moving over to June, but I have high hopes for good numbers in June. Plus I caught up reading all the series I was reading with my #HTBookClub 😍

3✨ Cute and fantasy did deliver, and I found myself really liking the world built by the author. The issues I had with it was 10 years past, but they felt like teens. It was also spicier than I personally like, and the romances felt very YA. While it did bring a lot of fun elements to the table the ending I appreciated, but also felt like everything the characters went through didn‘t matter anymore. #HTBookClub

3✨I really appreciated how different this was from other vampire stories. It was more zombie like which I loved. There was quite a bit of back in forth in the timeline, which I always struggle with. There was one character I absolutely didn‘t like, and others that I just didn‘t remember. Overall, it had a good storyline and characters that matured (for the most part). #HTBookClub

3✨Still struggling with all the POVs and characters, but a little easier to follow along this time. I‘m not sure I comprehended everything that was going on, but I really like Skedi and Inara. We learn more about her in this book. There is a lot more power seen by some of the characters, and Kissen still really strong and awesome! #HTBookClub #SeriesLove

TheSpineView Great job! So hard to finish books that are lackluster. 3mo

2✨ I really only finished this because it was a book club pick. It had moments that were really interesting, but I really struggled to get into the story. #HTBookClub @Littlewolf1

dabbe I remember finding zero likable characters, and that made it a struggle for me, too. 5mo
Roary47 @dabbe sounds like we were in good company my book club is pretty much saying the same. 5mo
DogMomIrene I wasn‘t a fan of this one either. No one was likable. And none of the unlikable were the “villains you love to hate” for me. So many people raved about this one. Definitely a book that impressed upon me how I needed to improve my vetting process for reading. 5mo
TheLudicReader I love everything she writes, but I get how you could bail. None of these characters are likeable, and as Tartt does overwrite, so you really have to *want* to carry on. No point wasting precious time on books you don‘t like. #hailthebail 5mo

3✨ The mystery was intriguing enough to keep going. I was struggling with this story because of the multitude of characters, the various timelines, and it wasn‘t really a thriller in my book. This story I read with my #htbookclub that we all pretty much agreed that it was not the book for us.

Caroline2 Yeah I was underwhelmed and agree it isn‘t really a thriller and actually rather depressing!! 7mo

3✨I struggled with this one because of all the cards and magic associated with it, but I really enjoyed this. I found it interesting that the “nightmare” protected, but was also slowly killing her through the book. I‘m interested to see what happens in the next book. #HTBookClub
