cobwebmoth It was a bit abrupt. I was glad to see Patrick and his family finally leave after all of the chaos they created. 5y

Tove_Reads I didn‘t expect it. First I thought there must be some pages missing because I can‘t think of an ending to this in 3 pages. But, quite often in life something happens suddenly and you make decisions then and there. 5y

EadieB It was a bit abrupt but I think Maeve leaves all her stories that way as if to say the reader can think through the ending on their own. The hotel burned down and Patrick was going home. What more it there to say! 5y

Andrew65 This does sum up these early books of Maeve‘s. They are very long and you get to know the people inside out and see their development. Then they have an abrupt ending that leaves you feeling bereaved and wanting more! @rubyslippersreads @Tove_Reads @EadieB @cobwebmoth 5y

cobwebmoth I think he treated her very poorly. He should have treated her with much more respect and concern. She sacrificed a lot for his family and he never really appreciated it. 5y

EadieB I didn‘t like the way he treated her. Rachel was a definite asset to his hotel and life and should have been treated better. 5y

cobwebmoth I think she did change. She started to seem more like her father. I did not like her by the end of the book. 5y

cobwebmoth I felt like Kate just wanted it all to be over, but I couldn't help but wish that she had listened to Rachel. 5y

rubyslippersreads I think they deserved more, but too much would make their neighbors resent them. 5y

Tove_Reads You never know with court cases, but I think she could have gotten more. 5y

EadieB I think they deserved more and could have gotten more as the insurance company was willing to pay double what they got! 5y

cobwebmoth Her whole world is different now. She was such a needed part of her family, but now she doesn't feel needed at all. It would be hard to try to have a positive mindset after all of that. 5y

EadieB Her predicament is sinking in now. I think she needs to accept the money from Patrick and try to make a better life. 5y

Andrew65 Such a sad aspect of the story. 😢 She needs a reason for waking up in the morning and a purpose to her life as she feels it‘s over. Hopefully she‘ll be better after the court case is over. @EadieB @cobwebmoth 5y

cobwebmoth Kerry is conniving and manipulative, so I think most of his actions are deliberate. I felt bad for Rachel. It put her in an awkward position that made her feel panicked. 5y

Andrew65 This was a very deliberate action the way I saw it. Certainly aimed at getting at Patrick and it will put the final nail in the coffin between Patrick and Rachel but felt that relationship was heading for the buffers at a fast rate. Rachel deserves better than Patrick with or without the evil Kerry! However Rachel did end up making a few bad decisions following this. @EadieB @cobwebmoth @Tove_Reads 5y

Andrew65 Mary still hasn‘t got over what happened to her and hates all men, but possibly this relationship could work, providing Fergus is over Kate. I think it would be good for both of them and think Maeve was heading in this direction. @cobwebmoth @EadieB 5y
