Ever seen this movie? It's very underrated and probably unseen by most people. It came out in 2002, and it deals with a dystopian society that uses drugs to suppress emotions. I highly recommend it, Christian Bale is great in it.

I had to go rewatch this episode, I didn't remember it. I liked the look into Trill society. The ending was a bit pat, but overall enjoyable.

tournevis I remember seeing this movie. I was underwelmed. I didn't think it was bad, it was just meh. 5y
Megabooks Never seen this movie. I rarely watch movies. I agree the ending of the episode was a bit lame. 👎🏻 5y
RamsFan1963 @tournevis It came out about the same time as The Matrix Reloaded, and got washed away by the (undeserved) hype of that film. I admit I enjoy the movie mainly for Bale, he's one of my favorite actors. 5y
tournevis @RamsFan1963 We agree about Matrix reloaded. Ugh. I like Bale fine, early Bale mostly. 5y

“Living systems are never in equilibrium. They are inherently unstable. They may seem stable, but they‘re not. Everything is moving and changing. In a sense, everything is on the edge of collapse.

God created dinosaurs. God destroyed dinosaurs. God created Man. Man destroyed God. Man created dinosaurs. Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the earth.”

Megabooks This was such an enjoyable book! Again lovely with the graphic! 🖖🏻 5y
LiterRohde @Megabooks The movie was good, groundbreaking even, but the book was still better. Like you said, it was enjoyable, fun even, but so much deeper. 5y
Megabooks @LiterRohde Agreed. Timeline is still my favorite Crichton book, though. 5y
LiterRohde @Megabooks I have not read it. 5y
Megabooks @LiterRohde I haven‘t read it in six years, when I last went through a Crichton binge, but it‘s really good. 5y

Four people have to find a new #Equilibrium after having their minds transplanted from sick and decaying bodies into new cloned ones. I want to read this book again at some point.

The DS9 episode is interesting in relation to the tagged book because Jadzia has to fight to reintegrate memories that had been blocked in her symbiont. #StarTrekSummerJune

MicheleinPhilly I was surprised by how much I loved this book. 5y
Megabooks @MicheleinPhilly me too. I‘m afraid I‘ve made it sound cheesy, but it was actually quite good. 5y

DS9 3.04 #Equilibrium The crew has Sunday dinner! Epi focusses on Trill culture & biology and how memories create identity. A procedural mystery, follows clues that could indicate Jadzia is going insane or that something was done to her. The answer has long term consequences for Jadzia and Ezri. More b&w morally than most other DS9 episodes.

Equilibrium is an economics concept, but Tipping Point is at least interesting.

keithmalek All of Gladwell's books are interesting. I'll give him that. The problem is that they're also wrong and poorly thought out. 5y
tournevis @keithmalek He wasn't *wrong* about tipping points in popular culture, but he's a lot of flash and much less substance, that's for sure. 5y
Megabooks It sets up for Field of Fire, which I liked a lot better than this episode. The hug in the symbiont pool was a bit lame. Can I get Odo to stir my cake batter, though?? (edited) 5y
tournevis @Megabooks Auberjonois's performance in comedy is always so perfect! 5y
