#NewYearNewBooks

#RestaurantCvr The tagged book & its follow-up both have a restaurant on the cover. They are set around Lillian‘s restaurant where she holds cooking classes & are another two of my foodie book favorites. 🍽️🤍

If you haven‘t read them & enjoy foodie novels, you should! Read The School of Essential Ingredients first.

JenReadsAlot Oh I loved those! 4mo

“Lillian had been four years old when her father left them, and her mother, stunned, had slid into books like a seal into water.”

ShyBookOwl So sad, but what a good analogy. 7mo

I kept thinking this story was set in Paris and then I was confused when someone drove to the desert or a 20-year-old wasn‘t allowed to drink… Do you know this problem or is it just me?

I read this after I loved No Two Persons. I loved the food-content in this, but thought the characters‘ stories were less diverse than in NTP. But it was the perfect book to read one chapter before going to sleep.

This was delightful! I‘ve never had an interest in visiting Paris, but that‘s changed after reading this culinary memoir. This is the experience I had wanted when I tackled Julie & Julia so long ago.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½

JamieArc I think this is the first time I‘ve ever heard of someone not having an interest in visiting Paris. Sacré bleu! ?? 2y
EvieBee @JamieArc The idea of Paris overwhelms me, plus I don‘t speak the language. I agree with you, I must be nuts! 2y
JamieArc @EvieBee Well, if you ever do find yourself in Paris, the good news is that most people speak French. I always had a hard time practicing my French there because they would immediately switch to English for me! 2y
EvieBee @JamieArc That is great to know! 2y

Thanks for the tag @TheRiehlDeal 💕

❄️ I feel like I could hang out with Chef Lillian (tagged book) for long periods of time & be quite happy. Not only would she probably be cooking wonderful meals (a very nice bestie benefit is a friend who throws down in the kitchen🤗), but she was all about good vibes amongst people.

❄️ Rozelle Quinn! It would be impossible to call her friend.

❄️ Friday Eve…the new name for Thursday!😂

Sapphire Rene-Marie Gamache from Louise Penny‘s books. A secondary character and not as quirky as some. Also Annie their daughter. 2y
Eggs Thanks for joining in 🥰📚👏🏻 2y

Totally a charming and easy listen! It consists of character sketches and lots of food writing that I especially enjoyed. I loved the message that one must care for & respect ingredients to end up with a quality dish. 😋

I‘m going to check to see if this is a series. Definitely has the potential.

Prairiegirl_reading I loved this one too! The sequel is The Lost Art of Mixing. I think that‘s it though. 3y
Tamra @Prairiegirl_reading I saw that and put a hold it! 👏🏾 3y
Prairiegirl_reading @Tamra I read the first one last summer and just devoured it. I was lucky enough to get the second one and read them back to back. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 3y
Tamra @Prairiegirl_reading very easily binged! 😄 3y
Prairiegirl_reading Yes very easily! 3y

Daughter hair day means audio book time for me! Starting the tagged book. She plays on IPad while I listen, unbraid, detangle, and re-braid her hair. Not her favorite activity. 😬

I asked her when she wanted to do her hair today and her response was “never.” 🙃
