pickI thoroughly enjoyed this. It‘s the 2nd in the Poly O‘Keefe series & there‘s more Poly than in the first, but it‘s still odd that she‘s not the main/POV character. I appreciated the lack of teen drama in this one, with its focus on 13-year-old Simon. Even with murder & intrigue, it felt more kid than YA, and I liked it better for that. There was a fair amount of “noble savage” characterization, but also some lovely themes of grief & faith.
It‘s a gorgeous day today—clear blue skies following yesterday‘s rain, sunny but not too hot. I finally got around to planting this little herb garden—hoping I don‘t kill these off like my last herb garden attempt! I‘m now relaxing on the porch making use of my new outdoor pillows and getting into the second of the Poly O‘Keefe books.
pickA friend asked to borrow A Wrinkle in Time so that she could read it before she sees the movie. Of course, I loaned her the quintet and the other books that go along with it, except this one, which I‘ve had in my TBR for some time. It started a little slower than I‘d hoped, but the last third or so was satisfying.
