Mehso-so

I enjoyed the overarching story, but the narrator is a self righteous, privileged, egocentric man who tells the story almost as a backdrop to his own superior qualities. It was easy enough to read and if you can look past the narrator, it is a good story.

I finally completed the challenge that I had set for myself! To complete all of Wilbur Smith's series's. I have read the Courtney series, the Ballentyne series, the Hector series and the Egypt series, all in a row.

I give up.
The narrator is awful, he is saved from death but is more interested in complaining about the color of the clothes he is given. The women are basically described as "She breasted boobily"
This could be a good book, but the narrator is stuck too far up his own genitals.
I give up.

Eyelit She breasted boobily?? 🙄 what even? 🤣 I‘d give up on that too! (edited) 13mo
Emilymdxn I hate books where the narrator forgets to tell you about the story cause they‘re too interested in random complaints and reasons they‘re so fascinating 🙄 13mo
EllanaRose @Eyelit - A while ago there was a twitter thing about how male authors describe women in their books. @Emilymdxn - Same, but I've been reading books lately that have had good narrators, ones that actually tell the story. This one? Ugh. 13mo
