This is the story of a woman who changes the world that wants to change her. Geraldine is born with an adventurer's heart. Whether it's escaping from boarding school in Rhodesia, or buying hormones from the local speed dealer in Weston-super-Mare, Geraldine is open to all the world has to offer - even if the world doesn't quite know what to make of her. Arriving in Australia as an adolescent, Geraldine finds solace and self-discovery through music. As she grows into a woman, she not only inspires others but also learns to be accepted for who she truly is.

A local publisher and author. Very new. Thanks @CarolynM . I was able to get it from library. I found the style of writing different but enjoyable. There was not a lot of emotion , very matter of fact. Making the read even more enjoyable was the walk down memory lane for me with situations and places I knew from the 70s and onward.
A champion for gay and trans rights. The law has come a long way thanks to people like Andrea. ❤️🌈

CarolynM I‘m glad you enjoyed it too 🙂 I really liked how blunt she was, always telling it like it is and not standing for anybody‘s BS. 2w
Jeg @CarolynM I agree. Thank you for alerting me to this book. 2w

From her early days as Gerald in the Midlands, Zambia & an English boarding school, establishing her identity as Geraldine as a teenager in the prog & punk music scenes of the 1970s, finding herself transplanted to far away Perth & its underwhelming (to her) music scene in the early ‘80s to throwing herself into the battle for LGBT law reform in the 90s & 00s Geraldine insists on her right to be unashamedly herself. And she is excellent company ⬇️

CarolynM ⬆️ …on the wild ride through the decades. About the author says the book began as a memoir, but when she realised “every other gender diverse person in the world was writing a memoir” she switched focus to fiction. There‘s stuff in here that‘s sad & stuff to get angry about, but overall it‘s a thoroughly good time. #ozfiction 1mo

CarolynM @Jeg @Centique This wasn‘t in the database when I posted so it was under “Untitled”. I‘ve just changed it to the right title which is now available. You might want to check your stacking🙂💕 3w
CarolynM @TheKidUpstairs I saw you stacked this when it was untitled, just a heads up that it‘s in the database now🙂 3w
TheKidUpstairs @CarolynM thank you! I have re-stacked it, properly this time! 3w
