pickAnastasia Miller is a changeling, an alien plant person who replaced her human counterpart at age 3. She's always been honest about who she was, but with an invading force on the way, her quiet life in customer service is about to be upended. An intriguing concept, strong start and interesting ending made this book worth reading, but the messy middle felt repetitive. Also, who gets on a plane when they're wanted by the feds? Take the interstate!
pickA tender love story between a sentient alien plant named Stasia and a trans man named Graham. Also a cracking alien invasion story. Huge thanks to #netgalley for access to this audiobook. The solo narrator ably did this chunky page turner justice.

pickI loved Grant‘s INTO THE DROWNING DEEP, so I was excited to listen to her latest. Drawing you in with an excellent audio performance, mysterious outer space seeds grow across the earth—& their flowers harbor a dangerous secret. Decades later, Anastasia learns the truth about who & what she really is with her friends by her side. Dark & gory, these plantforms mean business! Too bad my book clubs are never up for #scifi! This‘d be fun to discuss!

When she came back out, she was no longer human, but part of a plant species. She never wavered in the belief. Now, years later, the aliens make contact and are about to invade. What follows is nature vs. nurture, found family adventure. For even if Anastasia isn't human, she feels a need to protect her friends. 4.5 stars.
pickStasia has spent her whole life warning the people around her that she‘s an alien & that an invasion is coming. & then the first signal is received. Everyone will have to believe her now.
So interesting! Grant does such an amazing job making me love characters, even the advance spy of a race coming to destroy humanity. There were a couple pacing issues, but the horror was so well done, & the ending took me completely by surprise!🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
pickI actually loved this alien invasion/plant apocalyptic narrative. It was definitely a very fresh take, yet heavily inspired by Cold War sci fiction alien invasion stories like Day of the Triffids (or John Wyndham ‘s work in general), Invasion of the Body Snatchers, etc. I loved the critical analysis of the ethics of colonialism and colonization. It was definitely a great read
