I decided I'd treat myself to the second story arc of Bitch Planet as individual issues vs the collected volume because I read they contain some woke essays and articles examining the series' issues of identity, power and gender -- and indeed they do! Number 6 here is a self-contained side story, Meiko's background leading up to her incarceration. I can't wait to get back into the main plot with issue 7!

MrBook Well done pic, as always 😊👍🏻. 7y

Great backstory in this installment, and it was my first single issue read. I bought the first 1-5 in vol.1, so I enjoyed getting my first taste of the essays and articles included in the back of the single issues. Thank you for the tip @Dorianna

brilliantglow I almost bought Vol. 1 when I was at Indigo today. I ended up going for Lumberjanes though cause I wanted something funny and fun. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @brilliantglow I bought mine from Amazon and read it on my kindle fire, no comics stores near me... definitely not funny and fun, but subversive and dark humor for when you are in that mood the next time. 8y
brilliantglow I am probably the only person on Litsy that never buys books from amazon. I hate their app and I'm super particular with how my books are organized so I dislike not being able to download them and edit the Metadata. But I also live in a big city and there are several comic stores. Indigo is a big chain bookstore but they usually have a good selection of graphic novels and Manga. I'm definitely keeping bitch planet on my tbr. 8y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @brilliantglow Yea, small town in the country here. Closest chain bookstore is a BAM (Books a Million) about an hour away. I'd be lost without Amazon and the library! 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @brilliantglow have you ever tried Calibre to edit your metadata? 8y
brilliantglow Yeah that's why I like living in the city. And even then I still buy most of my books online anyway. They're usually cheaper. Especially if I can find them (or wait for them to come into stock) on Thriftbooks. 8y
brilliantglow Calibre is what I use yes. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @brilliantglow I thought you could use Calibre to edit your metadata? 8y
brilliantglow You can but you can't actually download the files from amazon. You can only access them through their app. You can take the books you get from amazon and transfer the files to your computer. 8y
brilliantglow *can't take the books 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @brilliantglow Oh ok... I thought you could just pull them over and work with them 8y
brilliantglow Not from amazon because it doesn't actually allow you to have access to the files since you don't own the file you just buy a licence to read the book. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @brilliantglow I guess you can tell that I know a little about Calibre, but not a lot 8y
brilliantglow Lol its not calibre that's the issue. It's amazon. If I get ebooks from kobo I can download them directly to my laptop and add them into calibre where I can edit the Metadata as much as I want or convert the file type etc. Where as with Amazon you can only "download" the files you've purchased to their kindles or the kindle app. You can't actually download the file to your computer and open it or access it. 8y
Dorianna Yay! I'm glad you're enjoying them! 8y

On a day trip to New Jersey and catching up on some comics on the drive back. It's killing me that there's no audiobook of the Harry Potter book. 😂😭 I would love to be listening to that right now instead, but I'm glad I saved up a few issues of this amazing feminist dystopia. One of my favorite comics right now! I am so looking forward to watching some Patriarchy get kicked around for a while.💪🏽👊🏾 #ReadWomen #WNDB

CynCruz23 Love this series!!!!! Can't wait for the 2nd Volume to come out in TPB - I can't handle the single issues one at a time so kudos to you for sticking with it for the long haul 👍 8y
Bookartbookmarks Audible actually has it! Just came out recently. 8y
Bookartbookmarks Sorry, by if I mean the audiobooks for the Harry Potter Series. 8y

BookishFeminist @Magoo Whattttt?! I looked today & it wasn't there! 😳😫 8y
Bookartbookmarks Do you mean the new one? I'm sorry I'm really tired. We had a family weekend. I'm unclear about that, but the other series they do. Sorry to get your hopes up. Lesson learned. Do not comment when tired. 8y
BookishFeminist @Magoo I mean specifically Cursed Child. They seem to have all the audiobooks for the regular series but as far as I know they didn't make one for Cursed Child yet. If you have info I don't know I want it! 8y
BookishFeminist @Magoo No problem! I was just confused. But it's a little relieving to hear that there isn't one when I checked. I woulda been ticked at myself if there was one and I didn't find it when I could've been listening to it this whole time, lol. 8y
BookishFeminist @CynCruz23 You only have to wait until November at least! I think that's when the trade comes out. Lol I can't not read the single issues. Besides, there are kickass feminist essays at the back of each issue that don't make it to the trade! 8y
Dorianna I absolutely love this series. Seriously love. I don't know why the essays aren't included in the trade editions. I wonder if a deluxe hardcover will come out with them in the future. 8y
Carol Yeah what is up with the incredible essays and interviews and whatnot in the back not making it to the trades? It's definitely what keeps Bitch Planet on my pull list! 8y
BookishFeminist @dorianna.garguilo @carol I hope they will publish a deluxe edition with them. I remember seeing something about the length being the reason for not including them? But I'm not certain & wish they would. It's why I buy the single issues too. 8y
Carol If I recall the trades are cheap compared to similar 5 issue volumes, $9.99 US as opposed to $14.99+ I would totally buy a deluxe edition so I didn't have to unbag the single issues to reread. Nerd alert! 😂📢 8y
BookishFeminist @Carol ? this nerd is too lazy to get her ass to the comic store. I buy digital on Comixology. ? If there's a special edition cover though I might go get it in print. I got I think issue #2 bc it says "don't tell me to smile" on it lol. 8y
CynCruz23 @BookishFeminist whaaaat!!? I did not know this! Thanks for the tip, I've only read the first single issue and the first volume. Thought it was a one time thing for the first issue. This is so exciting! 👏 I can't wait to pick the singles up and enjoy the series all over again 😁 8y
BookishFeminist @CynCruz23 Yes! I don't know if it will continue forever but it's in every issue I've read! They're amazing. Love Kelly Sue DeConnick. 💜👊🏼 8y
quirkyreader I hope that everyone who wants the single issues can find them. It's time for more people to join us comic junkies on Wednesday lining up for new comics. 🐸 8y
steph_hashes_tags @BookishFeminist @dorianna.garguilo @carol They're not included because the length made the trades too costly to produce. Also, PSA: It's a lot better for creators when people pre-order or subscribe to the individual issues through their local comic shop - it drives up orders per issue, which improves their numbers and helps them avoid being cancelled. If you can afford it, please consider buying issue-by-issue for titles like Bitch Planet! 8y
Carol @steph_hashes_tags wow good to know! I'm still not sure how these things work, as I thought Bitch Planet trades were already below average in cost but I could be wrong. It's on my pull list though, so my local comic book store gets mine for me every month. At least I'm doing something right! 😂 8y
Dorianna @steph_hashes_tags Thanks for getting the word out about that. Yes, if you can afford it, consider subscribing to the single issues at your comic book store. 8y
BookishFeminist @steph_hashes_tags Yep, so true! I subscribe for this reason. 😊 Thankfully I don't think Bitch Planet is in danger of being cancelled anytime soon but it's so important to subscribe especially to newer titles that you love and want to see around for a long run! 8y
Treatyoshelf Bitch Planet is amazing. #NC 8y
