I really loved this one. The magic system was really interesting and complex. I also enjoyed the character growth and all the twists and turns as the story unfolded. Navigating family responsibilities and personal relationships can be complicated, and the author did a great job depicting that. There are definite parallels to real-world issues and politics. I was pleased with the vibe at the end. And I love this cover art!

It was good, a little overloaded between the plot & the magic system (a few things seemed convoluted). The characters were relatable & the metaphor to real world prejudice & atrocities came across well.

Venus has 1 job to do, protect her sister & kill whoever killed her mon & make potions for politicians. She‘s got a lot on her plate.

I debated between a pick and so-so. For me it was more of a so-so, but I could see others absolutely loving it. I just thought the first half was so slow and there were a couple times I considered DNFing. I am glad I didn‘t, the ending was good.

Listening to this audiobook and putting together these cute Lego flowers I picked up at Costco.
