You're Already Amazing
You're Already Amazing: Embracing Who You Are, Becoming All God Created You to Be | Holley Gerth
3 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
Women feel enormous pressure to be perfect. To have the perfect body, to be a perfect woman, to have the perfect career, and to have the perfect attitude. All the time. Under all that pressure and all those expectations are women carrying burdens they were never meant to carry and suppressing the dreams they were always meant to live. In You're Already Amazing, popular blogger and cofounder of (in)courage helps women understand and embrace the fact that they don't need to do more, be more, and have more--because they're already amazing just the way God created them to be. As a licensed counselor and certified life coach, Holley knows what readers need to hear. Like a heart-to-heart talk over coffee, reading this joy-filled book encourages women to forget the lies and expectations the world feeds them, instead believing that God made them for a purpose and that he loves them right now, at this moment, and always. Holley takes readers on a journey of the heart to discover their strengths and embrace all God created them to be.

My daughter and granddaughter are the light of my life. My daughter works with autistic children and is already teaching her daughter sign language. She is an amazing and caring woman who is also a wonderful mother.

These next three weeks I'm doing a reset of sorts and focusing on Christian fiction & non fiction. Any suggestions? I haven't read ANY Christian fiction so I have "The Shack" and Ted Dekker's "The Circle" series on the list of things to try.

KCorter I really enjoyed Frank Peretti as a kid. Neither of my parents were big readers, but there was always some kind of Christian fiction on the shelves after Christmases and birthdays. The Oath was a book I read it one sitting. 7y
KCorter Joshua was an interesting book that speculated what it would be like if Jesus came to a small town in modern-day America (modern-day being 1983). 7y
maximoffs Thank you @KCorter ! 7y

KCorter The Chronicles of Narnia is almost blatantly allegorical, but it is a must read if you haven't read it yet. It deserves to be considered the classic it is. 7y
KCorter No problem! If I think of more, I'll let you know! My sister is obsessed with Ted Dekker, and recommends him highly. 7y
maximoffs @KCorter I've read them all, actually in my pre christian days! And one of my close friends who no longer identifies as a Christian says that the Circle series is still one of his favorite books 7y
monkeygirlsmama Yes, @KCorter is spot on in her recommendation of Peretti's The Oath. Such an awesome book! I also recommend Denise Hunter's books. They're sweet, easy reads. 7y
maximoffs @monkeygirlsmama thank you!!! 7y
Smangela Dee Henderson's books are Christian fiction and mystery/thriller kind of? SO good! Not the same kind as the shack but I love them! Especially the O'Malley Series 7y
DGRachel I second anything by Frank Peretti or Ted Dekker for Fiction. 7y
maximoffs @Smangela Thank you!! @DGRachel can't wait to start those then! 7y
maximoffs @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I need to!! I'm a big Rob Bell fan 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk I've taught it once with a youth group and once with an adult Sunday School class and it is fantastic. 7y
underthebelljar This one is fiction and I really enjoyed it! It's the first in a trilogy. 7y
Daizy @steverogers So this one is a lot older, but one of my all time favorites. I actually named our cockatiel after the character in the book- Basil! The Silver Chalice by Thomas Costain. 1952. "The story of the cup of the last Supper". You learn a lot of cool history. This is my first time on this app so forgive if my formatting seems off! 7y
Daizy How do you do the book mark icon? The Way of the Master is an awesome nonfiction book by Ray Comfort. Google him and he has lots of great videos, etc along with Kirk Cameron (edited) 7y
maximoffs @Daizy Welcome to Litsy! Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check them out. When you type your comment on the bottom left there's a bookmark icon you can click :) 7y
