It is a life-changing deal—and it will end your life as you know it. Sarah Trevelyan would give anything to regain the power and wealth her family has lost, so she makes a bargain with Azrael, Lord of Darkwater Hall. He will give her everything she needs to restore the Trevelyan name, and one hundred years to do it—in exchange for her soul. Fast-forward a hundred years to Tom, who dreams of attending Darkwater Hall School. A professor named Azrael offers him a bargain. Will Sarah be able to stop Tom from making the same mistake? Catherine Fisher's version of Faust is utterly spellbinding!

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

I am quickly becoming a fan of Catherine Fisher! Luckily, I have three more of her books at home! I loved this take on the Dr. Faustus story!

Book #7 from #MountTBR

Darkwater was an incredible book, I had such a hard time putting it down! With interesting characters, an incredible plot about a girl's struggle with family pride, and all from the same writer that gave us Incarceron, it's definitely a book I would recommend to any fantasy lovers. 💕

Katniss: Here, let me help you with that. Books are for scritching faces right? Like this?

I'm reading Darkwater because it's been sitting on my shelf for a couple years and it's also pretty close to 220 pages (229 pages). Still aiming for that gold medal in the #bookisholympics!

So far this looks like it will be a so-so read. Not bad, but not spectacular. I don't regret reading it, but I'm also glad it will be over soon. Still 50 pages to go.

jpmcwisemorgan How are your #bookisholympics going? Is this your last book? 8y

BekahB @jpmcwisemorgan Well I have 3 books to finish, but I'm more than halfway through each, so it will be pretty tight. I have about 5 hours left in my day. I need to knock out The Spindlers, The DUFF, and In Real Life (by Nev Schulman from that MTV show Catfish). The good this is that all of those have been going pretty quickly. I think it's time to stop skipping between books and just finish each one. 😀 8y

jpmcwisemorgan @BekahB That's not too bad, especially if they are all started. Woo hoo! 8y
bookishkai Your kitty looks like my late baby boy Zach; he was a white fluffball too. 8y
BekahB @bookishkris awww...this is the first fluffy cat I've had. Her son is fluffy too. Despite how much I brush them, I still see little cat hair tumbleweeds rolling across my tiled floor. It's never-ending brushing and sweeping, but I love them so it's worth it! 😄 8y
