8 posts | 9 read | 6 to read
"Kelly Rimmer always delivers a poignant story.” —Madeline Martin, New York Times bestselling author of The Last Bookshop in London A family's innocent search for answers brings a long-forgotten, twenty-five-year-old mystery to light, in the riveting new novel from the bestselling author of The Things We Cannot Say. 1970—In the aftermath of his war-ravaged past, Noah Ainsworth is still haunted by memories of his time as a fearless British operative in France. But a critical head injury left Noah with frustrating memory gaps and a burning question that plagues him—who was the agent who saved his life during that tragic final mission? Determined to find answers, Noah's daughter Charlotte embarks on a quest from their cozy home in Liverpool, leading her to the incredible lives of two ordinary women—Chloe and Fleur—who transformed into fearless spies on foreign soil. But as Charlotte unravels the heroic exploits of these women and their connection to Noah, she inadvertently stumbles upon evidence of a double agent lurking disturbingly close to home, drawing her into a treacherous web of secrets and unearthing a shocking story from those final days of the war. Once again, Kelly Rimmer takes readers on a gripping journey, one that threads the lives of two remarkable women into the fabric of history, unveiling the power of courage, family and the indelible mark left by the darkest era of human conflict.

I couldn't get into this book. Probably me and not author, as I have had headache that comes and goes for 2 1/2 weeks. A lot of people have enjoyed it. I'll have to give it another try another time.

Two SOE agents are caught and held captive in the
Karlsruhe prison in Germany, and form strong bonds.
The author brings her readers sooo many powerful and moving messages throughout the book about relationships, and friendships that form even under the most dire circumstances. KR delivers very powerful messages that can be applied to all aspects of life which is one of the reasons why she is one of my favorite authors.ARC in exchange for review

The Paris Agent was inspired by real events surrounding WWII and SOE agents in France. It is told in two different timelines and from three points of view: Charlotte, Josie, and Eloise. Ultimately it is a story of bravery and family.

This wonderful but heartbreaking story is inspired by the lives of two real women (Violette Szabo & Diana Rowder). I have read and enjoyed many of Rimmer's books and this was no exception. The characters and writing draw you in and the way she breaks up the drama of the 1944 timeline with the 1970 timeline works wonderfully and also allows the reader a few lighter moments. These women were heroes and deserve recognition even if in fiction. 4.5

HISTORICAL FICTION - WWII - MYSTERY

Told in alternating time lines and alternating characters, THE PARIS AGENT takes us from the WWII operations of the SOE to 1970.

There are many tearful moments, horrible moments, secrets, beautiful detailed writing, wonderful sentiments at the end, and well-researched events.

This title releases in July and it will make for a solid read for those who make summer reading lists. Although it is a WWII set novel with a second timeline in 1970 this is still fresh in its way and will make for a good addition to your TBR stack/pile or in my case a bookcase 🙂
