House Perilous
House Perilous | Tansy Rayner Roberts
3 posts | 2 read
Number 12, Acteon Place is more than just a London town house. It is a harbour for the most dangerous enchantress in Britannia. There are prisoners in the cellar. Mysterious magical experiments in the attic. A fairy killer on the loose. A hunted governess, desperate to protect the two children she betrayed. Other features of the house include an excellent cook. Exquisite wallpaper. Slightly homicidal carpet depending who steps on it. And a yellow cat who provides more questions than answers. Flavia Wednesday and her friends might not all escape this house alive. For those that do there are even more perils beyond its walls. If you enjoy gaslamp fantasy and faerie Victoriana, youll love this second volume in the Sparks & Philtres novella series.

Hitting the ground running on #booked2023

Fae gaslamp fantasy House Perilous, book 2 in the Sparks & Philtres series, was a lot of fun. And I finished another book in the Winston Brothers series, which is set in the Smoky Mountains.

This book/yarn pairing was the hardest one yet! It's not perfect, but it's close. The book is a Victorian fae gaslamp fantasy, the followup to Gate Sinister.

The yarn is Kunzea, a hand dyed alpaca/silk /cashmere blend in the colourway Iron Bark, available at the “Say! Little Hen“ yarn shop.

bnp That yarn is lovely. 8mo

Last month wasn't a great reading month. It was a shit month at work. But I enjoyed House Perilous, the second book in the Sparks & Philtres series by Tansy Rayner Roberts.

Also a very solid start to yet another vampire knitting club spin-off from Nancy Warren with The Vampire Knitting Club: Cornwall.
