This book is on one hand, beautiful, but also disjointed, in pieces, almost like a poem that tells a story. I need to let this marinate for a bit.

Stayed up late to finish this book that publishes today 😅I was really excited for a new Maynard but this one didn‘t quite meet my expectations 😬 As a child Irene experiences a great loss only to face more tragedy as a young woman. Feeling unmoored she finds herself in an ancient Mayan village where magic & rebirth await her. It was just wayyyy too twee for me & it was far too long. It just wasn‘t what I was hoping for 🤷🏼♀️#MoreMehThanYeah
Thanks to @peaknit for putting this new novel by Joyce Maynard on my #ReadersRadar ( book publishes this Tuesday, May 2) This would be a perfect choice for #IslandVibes #TitlesAndTunes #NetGalley #ARC
It‘s a departure from her last novel which I LOVED; Count The ways. This one is a bit frothier with hints of magical realism 🪄
