I was stranded without books and started listening to this just because it was on my phone. To my surprise it was really good! I read a lot of mountaineering books, and this one was so interesting. It was written by a woman expedition leader and she focused on logistics and leadership in a way that others usually don‘t. Highly recommend (and I‘m pretty sure I got it for free on audible.)

This about the first American women team expedition to Annapurna mountain. This covers all minor details starting from fund raising till the end of summit. Gender bias, conflicts with the sherphas, both mental & physical challenges of the summit are presented in a honest way. The unpredictability of the nature, mystery surrounding the mountain made it mesmerising. Cont…

Blackink_WhitePaper Author provides us with multiple view point by referring to the journal of fellow team members. writing is slow paced, at times too quick with adrenaline rush, some time thought provoking similar to their summit. In this pandemic time this book took me to Himalaya. 5🌟#nonfiction2022 #aestheticallymatched #adventurous #bookspin #bookspinbingo #travel 2y

Nonfiction doesn‘t get much more interesting. A group of 13 women decided to form an all-female climbing team to get to the top of Annapurna. The leader wrote this about their joys & struggles, detailing the entire process. From arguments w/Sherpas to the food they ate, each aspect of their lives on the mountain made me feel like I was right there. So much of the climbing experience is out of their control. It was a harrowing and fascinating read.

AvidReader25 The pic is our book club with the t-shirts that the climbing team sold to raise funds for their trip. 😆 3y
