⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This blew me away.

Told from the point of view of animals, these stories explore the horrors of war and habitat loss, the pains of hunger and grief, the joys of companionship and family, and the responsibility that comes with memory and leadership. As with all story collections, some were better than others, but I was so incredibly moved and surprised by the emotion in these pages. I totally cried on the plane! Highly recommend!

Such a strong short story collection. All the stories were from an animals perspective. Reminded me of an Aesop's fables for grownups during this time of climate change and war. Loved the authors voice. Was up for the Aspen Words and #carolsheildsaward. #52bookclub23 #presenttense @LauraReads @KarenUK @britt_brooke @CarolynM @Smarkies @LeeRHarry @Clwojick @BookBelle84 @jennifer80 @Librarybelle @triplem80 @AshleyHoss820 @Bluebird @Read4life

A sad allegory. Nature and humans—as destructive as we are—through the eyes of animals. This book does a great job showing their untainted wisdom and child-like lack of understanding, sometimes at the same time.

For those who don't want to forget we‘re not the only creatures inhabiting this planet, and that our selfishness impacts more than just us.

I adored this collection of gorgeously written stories, each from a different animal‘s perspective. The main characters were so vivid and I loved them all. I think my favorite stories were the title one (with a tiger narrator), the donkey, the vulture…oh, and the rhino-keeper dog. But truly they all were great. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Thanks for the ARC of this, #TinHouse ! Out Tuesday.
