I borrowed this audio from #AudiblePlus on a whim and found it highly relatable. While Greta and I led very different lives and come from very different backgrounds, I found large parts of her story familiar. Low self esteem, wanting to please her parents, and the need to be in control led Gretchen to overcompensate her insecurities with binging & purging. Gretchen honestly recounts her 16 year struggle with bulimia, and parts were shocking.

#AudiblePlus This looks interesting / anyone read it? It‘s from 2013. I battled bulimia from 1982-1986 and I feel like I‘m still in recovery almost 40 years later.

Megabooks I haven‘t read the book, but I‘m sorry you had to fight that battle. 💕💕 Sending support while you read it! 3y
Cinfhen Thanks @Megabooks I actually find strength and solidarity when I read other‘s personal battles with bulimia. It‘s not a TW for me. Its like reinforcement/ been there done that/ im ok!! (edited) 3y
TrishB Sorry to hear that ❤️ you‘ve done brilliantly. 3y

Megabooks That‘s great! I‘m glad you‘re in recovery. 💜👍🏻 3y
Cinfhen Thanks, friends @Megabooks @TrishB I still have a very unhealthy relationship with food, though😞 3y
TrishB I think the society‘s we were brought up in encourage that 😞 via various means. 3y
Cinfhen Yes, it was so accepted and normal in my friend circle @TrishB we all binged & purged, sometimes as an activity 😢I just had a knack for puking. It was effortless for me 3y
Centique I‘m so sorry to hear that you went through this kind of thing. Kudos for coming through it 🙌 and hugs and love for coping with whatever remains from it 💕💕 3y
Cinfhen Thanks so much @Centique I mostly forget what those years were like but I definitely feel like I still carry the emotional baggage of body images and self worth. It‘s unfortunate. 3y

I don't know about spectacular, but I finally figured out one thing I'm adding to my recipient's box and it has to do with the items in the photo #SummerSantaGoesPostal

julesG Great colours. Is that embroidery yarn or knitting yarn? It's so shiny. 7y
elkeOriginal Gorgeous photo! 7y

drokka @julesG Thank you. It's embroidery floss. I suspect it looks more shiny because they are variegated colours. 7y
mrsamandahood Embroidery Floss! What's your favorite brand? 😃 7y
drokka @mrsamandahood I guess it depends on the project. I worked with a lot of Dinky Dyes (silk) recently and liked those, but other than the white, the above are Gentle Art and Simply Shaker (cotton) and I'm really liking them a lot. I find that DMC (which I use a lot for when I need solid colours) knots up quite a bit. The GA and SS haven't done that. 7y
